J's Mini HotPot Deluxe

Decided to come here on a dinner date with my sisters on a Monday night. It was pretty slow, and we were the only patrons there at the time. I haven't had hot pot in forever so I was a little forgetful as far as how the process worked w/ ordering. Our server was nice and explained to us how it worked as well as his favorites he recommended. I opted for the beef hot pot (beef bone broth, the noodles that it came with and a side of pork dumplings) and although it was a lot more pricier than I expected ($19) there was a lot of food that came out. A plate of thinly sliced beef that was enough to share for two as well as a large bowl full of noodles and miscellaneous items that included spinach, potatoes, mushrooms, corn, a piece of hot dog and carrots (etc.) I very much so enjoyed the complimentary sauce bar too!

Flavors were good and the server was attentive. I did notice more customers coming in and that our server was the only one on the floor. When it came time to get our bill, I asked the server about the 5% discount for checking in on Yelp, he explained how he was new and wasn't sure how to apply that promo and that his manager was out at the moment. I was kinda bummed because that was one of the reasons I chose that place to dine at, yes 5% off isn't a lot but still it was an incentive. My sister and I decided to split the check and after about 10min of being in the weeds, the server comes back to tell us he wasn't sure how to split the check on his computer. I wasn't mad, just a little annoyed at this point. If this was the server's first week, why would you leave him by himself? Shortly, the manager did come back and I guess I should never assume, because I still didn't get the check-in discount I asked about earlier.

Nonetheless, this place isn't too bad. Just a minor bump that threw me off, but if I ever get the craving for hot pot again, I'll prob consider this place as a top option.

We ordered the Surf and Turf and the Angus Beef hotpots. It was a bit overwhelming as first-timers, but our waiter was great in helping us navigate it. The sauce bar is what makes the whole experience. The house sauce is fantastic. Go with someone who knows what they’re doing, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Bit expensive. For vegetarian hotpot the variety is not that good. Presentation looks exquisite though. Sauce options were pretty limited as well. We went there with a party of 9. Largest party that can be together in a single table is 8. Any more than that you'd have split up

Very interesting place to eat. The food is very fresh, because you cook it yourself at the table. Well rounded menu has something for everyone. Service is attentive. A good experience all around. Nice job.

Great hotpot restaurant. I loved the food, sauce bar. Great options, and more affordable than other hotpot places. Interior was well designed too, with each seating having their own burner. Would go again.
