I was surprised at how well this place reflected the ambience of a real New Orleans bar. This doesn’t mean it was elegantly appointed, but it was very basic. The food was okay, and the live music and drinks were good. We got there late on a Friday, just as the kitchen was closing, which may have affected the food quality and selection. I ordered the crawfish etouffee and ended up getting the shrimp and grits since the chef was concerned about the freshness of the etouffee. Fried appetizers were awesome: especially the pimento cheese balls and Jalapeno poppers. Grits were good, except I should have made them leave the tomatoes out. My wife got a Philly cheese steak, which was a little greasy and salty, but I liked it. For a bar, they need to have more than one unisex bathroom (but then this reflects the New Orleans bar ambience). This is a good place to sit and drink and watch a ballgame or listen to music. Note that the live music is also piped into the outdoor seating area of Oz pizza next door.
What an amazing experience. Great owners, great staff, great customers, awesome food. And talk about food, try the homemade crawfish dip. Wow! The Gumbo is wonderful as well.
Love this place. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great music. And great sports with TVs. Try this place and you won’t be disappointed!
They didn't have any sweet tea available. When the appetizer was brought over we were given 1 napkin. There was 2 at the table and you would still need more than 1 napkin. Stingy about giving napkins. Po boy catfish was good but not enough fish. Coleslaw was good but nothing to rave about. Fried green tomatoes was hot and delicious. Overall good experience but nothing spectacular.
Wanted to try something different in the area so we picked Momma’s. I was dining with a Cajun, and a foodie. I will say that the environment was fun, friendly staff, eclectic crowd, open mic night with people taking the stage...and doing their thing.
My friends had ordered a couple of things that were out of stock…overall, I was a little underwhelmed. They didn’t make a very good Moscow mule..everything on the menu was heavily fried. We ordered dry rub Cajun wings as one of the appetizers and they were fried. Fried Pimento cheese balls were good but heavy. I ordered fish and chips…the cod was good, the french fries not so much…corn on the cob was a little soggy. My friends ordered the Cajun sampler and they said it was decent.
