In spite of the negative reviews about the ambiance, food, and service, my wife and I decided to try Fanoos for the first time on a rather cold Saturday afternoon in February. Unsurprisingly, we were the only guests upon our arrival, but when we departed an hour or so later there were eight clients. The ambiance was quite authentic and the music relaxing.
The waiter was friendly and well-presented. He unobtrusively offered his assistance with suggestions from a wide array of Persian dishes. Our appetizer of hummus and flat bread arrived within minutes after we placed the order and it was as authentic, and tasty as we have ever had anywhere else within the U.S., or in North Africa, Europe, and Southeast Asia. The bread was just out of the oven and made for a flavorful hummus. The two entrees of lamb and beef were absolutely fantastic-- succulent, and tantalizing to the palate. They were served within minutes after we had finished our appetizer.
Settling our bill was a breeze and as we were departing the owner/manager came by our table to introduce himself and solicit our feedback. He then offered us a discount the next time we were to dine there. All in all it was a pleasant experience and we are glad that we were not influenced by the negative reviews.
After reading all of the negative reviews, I was a little skeptical about eating here, but we found a deal for it and tried it out. It was expensive, (as are all persian restaurants in the Atlanta area) and the atmosphere is so cool. We sat in the booths and really enjoyed the food. The bread came out cold, but when we complained they made a fresh a huge new batch and brought it to us warm! The staff was good and food was delicious, I would go back.
The other reviews I read were spot on, the food was good, but the service was horrible. My wife and I both asked for water refills about 6 times before we got them, and it took an hour for us to finally flag down the waitress to get the check. Sadly, the restaurant was half empty, so it wasn't even that they were busy and couldn't keep up. I would highly recommend saving your money and going somewhere else. This was our first and last visit.
