Good Word Brewing & Public House

The food, drinks, and atmosphere are very good here. However, I think they try too hard to be hipster or eclectic. Its not often I go to a restaurant and have to ask what something is. Nothing on the menu made much sense. Good food, but no need to over complicate it

Um... they brew their own beer. What's not to like? Also the food is locally sourced and fresh to table without an inflated price. Portions are generous without being ridiculous. Lovely service and a great pub atmosphere. And the banana pudding??? Oh my. Scratch like, I'm pretty much in love.

We frequent the Brick Store Pub in Decatur because we can walk there from our house, and our friends told us we had to drive out to Duluth to check out Good Word because it was created by former Brick Store employees. Shockingly, the drive out on a Saturday late afternoon wasn't too bad, and it was well worth the trip! The service was exceptional! Every single person who works there is nicer than the next! One of the owners, Ryan, came out to welcome us and thanked us for driving from Decatur, and we had the most lovely chat with him. He made us feel like we were regulars. The food was original, refreshing and outstanding, as were the beverage of the day and the selection of beers on tap. The atmosphere was super fun - the patio was very low-key and laid-back and the interior was stunning with incredible picture windows everywhere and a cool bar in the center. Just an outstanding vibe overall! On their website under "our story" it says, "Our goal is to break down the transactional facet of our lives by providing an authentic environment that fosters a sense of community. Face to face conversations regarding our friends, families and our lives in general are the focal point." Mission accomplished! It definitely won't be our last trip out there!

I love this place! The service both times I’ve been had been great! I love how everyone works as one unit and helps each other out, it is really exceptional. Plus everyone is so nice! The drinks are so good too I love the selections of cocktails. The food is phenomenal I haven’t tried one thing I didn’t like. I really want to recommend the tostones to everyone the dipping sauce for them I could eat as soup. I really want that recipe! Anyways, thanks for providing an excellent experience. I will definitely be back soon.
