The Clayton Cafe

We recently visited with a large group of 14 people on a weekend where we were camping nearby. They accommodated is immediately in the large room in the back. The service was excellent and the food was very good. Every other restaurant had waits of an hour or more. Glad that was the case as we never would have tried Clayton Cafe otherwise.

The food is fresh place is very clean everything was perfect.. every one was very friendly.. portions are big.. I had the country fried steak mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese it was great!! Highly recommend (:

AWESOME!!!! The cafe has been completely remodeled to modern country. It is bright and inviting. Nice local prints and historical pictures. VERY, VERY CLEAN!!!! Friendly staff and a wonderful, sweet owner..
.Bonnie. She is one the best cooks in this area. I would love to have her recipes. Every thing is homemade.....NO can food here. Yummy biscuits and omelet. I would highly recommend breakfast or lunch.

Opened originally in 1931 this cafe was totally renovated and opened a year ago. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinners all at reasonable prices.
Bonnie, the former chef at Mountain Lakes Hospital, is the owner/chef here. She has done a fabulous job of making this "the place" to dine in Clayton. There are comfortable wood chairs and tables in the main room as you enter. There's a large room in the back for overflow or large parties. Food is freshly prepared from scratch. Vegetarian burger with home cut, crispy, French fries was absolutely delicious. Deserts that looked too good to resist. A first time visit to be repeated in future visits to Lake Burton.
