Kawailoa Tavern

No longer the Kawailoa Tavern. It is now called The Surfing Mermaid Tavern. The new owners have turned this place into one of my regular places to enjoy a cocktail and some awesome food. The atmosphere is welcoming and laid back, always a great promo going on and something to enjoy almost every night of the week!

We wanted some local Hawaiian food so we searched up this place. We almost missed it because it was at a corner and the back of shopping mall.

We ordered pork belly slider, ox tail soup, brisket fried noodle, brisket, and the Hawaiian plate. The brisket was tender and juicy. Others were yummy!

Great service, tasty food and drinks. $5 pints during happy hour, and the brisket was awesome. They were renovating when we visited, but it was no big deal. Really impressed by the service, our waiter was awesome and super nice! We will definitely keep this spot in mind next time we're in town. Thanks!

Staying on the north shore for a few days and it was recommended to come check this place out. It has a dive bar feel to it, but nonetheless, it was great. We got the cocktail that comes in a freshly cut up and blended pineapple. For dinner, we ordered the kimchi fried rice, which was spectacular. The service was wonderful as well. If you’re in the area, be sure to check this place out.

Relaxed atmosphere, clean, great food.

I had the Smoked Meat plate which was incredibly flavorful.

Girlfriend had the grilled cheese with Kalua pork. Also amazing.

We also started with an order of chicken wings which were large and tasted great.
