I have been a frequent customer at this Musubi Cafe and had concerns about the work environment there. Specifically about the treatment of the employees. I have come to notice a trend of dissatisfaction among the workers through out the week to the point of it appearing to look like a prison for them. Monday & Tuesday people appear to be the most stressed and unhappy. Perhaps a probing on how this restaurant is led & managed on those specific days would be in order. Just a thought. Of course Fridays everyone seems a lot happier.
Friendly price and good taste. A nice place if you want Japanese fast food.
I love rice. I think the #1 reason why I will never leave Hawai'i is because I know that rice can be found everywhere. And the #2 reason I work out 5X a week is so I can eat more rice. People that love rice make me feel safe and are my version of a safety blanket. People that do not care for rice confuse me. What does your soul eat when it's sad? What do you drizzle gravy on? What helps to instantly offset the richness of fried food and savory meats? Because obviously, rice is the only answer.
So when I saw that Iyasume Musubi opened a new shop at Kahala Mall next door to Jamba Juice, I almost did a cartwheel! More rice options? Yes please! I peered at their bentos but decided I wasn't hungry enough to eat a full meal. I ended up ordering a salmon musubi to snack on and the cashier rang me up for $2.07. She the handed me a giant buzzer which would vibrate when my musubi was ready. I laughed her when she gave it to me because I thought it was overkill, but she insisted I take it.
A minute later my musubi was ready to be picked up and I skipped back to my table at Starbucks. I opened up my warm freshly made musubi and took a bite. Riiiiiiiiiicccccccceeeeee...
Not the best musubi I've ever had, but it did the trick to tide me over until lunch time.
