“Good hole-in-the-wall, greasy-spoon type place. Six booths. Prices from $6 to $16 with pretty filling food even at the mini sized plate lunches. Definitely not as terrible as all the one-star reviews would have you believe.”

“The restaurant was clean & the service is quick. This place is great for taking the family. The California fries and tacos are very tasty. The California Fries is a good portion. Their spicy salsa taste so good.”

“This place is a bit strange, when you first walk in there carpets look dirty and the furniture is a bit dated. That being said the food makes NONE of that matter. Their loco moco is delicious. The staff was very friendly and inviting. Lots of TVs to watch football while you eat too.”

“Y U M! Loved my combo with seaweed (or ocean) salad. Inexpensive and perfect lunch spot on a hot day after a hike. I enjoyed the #1 and Hawaiin style poke. Really friendly staff. Will be back!”

“It's Subway! 3 stars because of the SLOW CRAWL preperation. I started to order our sandwiches and my husband took the kids to the bathroom. They came back and I had just gotten my 2nd bread selection!???? People watch them make your sandwich! If you don't like how they didn't bring the meat all the way to the end, tell them! I am so specific that they can't mess my order up. When they start, I let them know exactly the way I want it. I have never gotten a bad sandwich that I ordered! The employees are definitely on Island time!????”

“A kitschy yet quaint atmosphere in this tucked away corner of the Pacific Aviation Museum, with some museum-like WWII throwbacks. The food mixes traditional American fare with some local flair (e.g. fried rice). The service was friendly and they offer a 10% military discount! No lines and plenty of room for groups.”

“Good Chinese dim sum at lunch. Since it is the only decent dim sum place in Hawaii Kai it gets crowded at lunch. A reservation is therefore needed. The dim sums themselves are decent, like most other dim sum places.”

“Good typical subway experience except they cant close a sandwich I watch the worker try to fold my sandwich in half, fail as it falls open then just cut that in half and tried to wrap it up. And idk if it's only this subway but learn how to cut through the whole sandwich. I hate having to rip them apart then half my sandwich fall out.”

“It is a bit pricey, but still some of the best burgers I've eaten. there are so many options and toppings, but I'm certain you cannot go with any choice. I've visited here on both my visits, after Hanauma Bay. Awesome place”

“This place is in the Koko Marina shopping center so there's plenty of parking usually. They have made to order pizza, salads, bread knots and I believe chicken wings. I always go for their made to order pizza. I usually go for three toppings. They have a wide variety of both meat and vegetable toppings along with several types of cheese...to include ricotta which I love. To top it off this is a locally owned place. The owner is really nice and he always seems to have the placed staffed with a couple great workers. What's not to love about that? Support your local businesses!”

“I love all things fresh and fruity with lots of flavors and different options. When visiting Hawaii and looking for a refreshing drink this is a great place to stop and grab one. Or if you want something more try one of the amazing acai bowls. There is one that has greens in it and one that has more of an acai berry base. Both tasty.”

“The service is impeccable here even when they have to deal with the stereotypical affluent people. One might guess that living in Hawaii Kai might equate to nicer people. I mean if you don't worry about where rent is gonna come from or even your next meal, and the basic necessities are met, you'd figure that people could afford to be nice. But character is well defined under pressure, and the servers here are wonderful even with the periodic yet certain rude customers which appear to accustomed to pushing their money and condescending others. Otherwise, everyone here is pleasant -- I just mention this because in an open diner like this, you will indeed hear people. They're seated RIGHT NEXT TO YOU. If you're local, then Zippy's is a guaranteed spot. The chili is unique and hits the spot, and it's always been one of the go to places at 4:30am when all the clubs shut down. So there isn't much to say about the food...the fried chicken is always salty and crispy, the Korean chicken, strawberry waffles, right? Awesome, contemporary local food.”

“Terrific Mediterranean restaurant in east Oahu - a favorite for regulars who want yummy gyros and perfectly fried calamari. Located in the Koko Marina shopping center, on the corner facing Kalanianaole Highway behind the gas station. Parking spaces are narrow, and the lots fill up around lunchtime - make sure you don’t park in the dedicated BoH spaces, they have a security guard watching that side of the lot!”

“Overall (4.9 stars composite score): Good, fast and affordable. Delicious flavors , complements by great service and an ocean view Food/Drink (100% 1.5 star total): Meats have explosive flavor with juicy all over it. Side items are fresh and pair incredibly well with the salty and sweet meats. Service (100% of 1.5 star total): Ownership and staff is all family. You feel happy and welcomed from the moment you walk in until the moment you roll out the door, all stuffed and happy. Value (90% of 1 star total): Portions are HUGE. Pricing is super reasonable. The only reason I didn't give a perfect 100% value score is because the side dishes aren't unlimited. Otherwise, it's exceptional Atmosphere (100% of 1 star total): The store opens up to the marina, giving you a spectacular view. The sea breeze floats in, enhancing the Al fresco dining experience. “This place is awesome! The food is delicious and the drink are tasty! The view is like no other. Ignore the plebs who don't understand aloha! People are hating on this place because food is coming out slow and finding it expensive. Look around you're at a beautiful place and don't count the seconds. Would visit again would eat again and recommend 100%”
