“Stopped to buy some donuts for the staff working on the weekend. Store was empty at 5am on a Saturday but the service was quick and staff was personable and helpful. Enjoy the variety in breakfast sandwiches and the donut are soft and tasty. Cute that they make holiday ones. Commercial donuts will still never compete with the small business or mom and pop places I grew up with but it's a convenient alternative.”

It was a bit difficult to choose at the time because a lot of good selections were sold out and they had to bake more. Also, once you decide on a particular bread/pastry you have to lift the hard plastic shield and then hold it up while holding a tray in one hand and tongs in the other.”

“The service is impeccable here even when they have to deal with the stereotypical affluent people. One might guess that living in Hawaii Kai might equate to nicer people. I mean if you don't worry about where rent is gonna come from or even your next meal, and the basic necessities are met, you'd figure that people could afford to be nice. But character is well defined under pressure, and the servers here are wonderful even with the periodic yet certain rude customers which appear to accustomed to pushing their money and condescending others. Otherwise, everyone here is pleasant -- I just mention this because in an open diner like this, you will indeed hear people. They're seated RIGHT NEXT TO YOU. If you're local, then Zippy's is a guaranteed spot. The chili is unique and hits the spot, and it's always been one of the go to places at 4:30am when all the clubs shut down. So there isn't much to say about the food...the fried chicken is always salty and crispy, the Korean chicken, strawberry waffles, right? Awesome, contemporary local food.”

“You must make a stop here if you are in the area. The hot malasadas were better than Leonard’s in my opinion. The homemade strawberry ice cream was excellent. I also tried the banana bread with chocolate chips which had good banana flavor but probably would have been better warm. The peanut butter cookie was tasty as was the energy bar which was more like a rice crispy treat. The cake bomb was lemony without being too much so and very moist. Went twice during my stay so far and will probably return again tonight.”

“Great pizza, Great service. This is probably the best pizza on the island. It's by the slice, a slice is a quarter of a pizza. You can of course just get your own pie but they keep their case pretty stocked with a good variety. Only thing I could gripe is that the fountain drink machine is behind the counter and you only get one refill. Definitely recommend.”

“I enjoy eating at this restaurant. I've only been to the one on Nimitz, but would like to try the other locations as well. I like to order their meatloaf dish, the meatloaf is filling. My husband likes their hamburger steak dish. I love the fresh and warm bread they bring to the table. I advise get there early as there's a waiting time since it's quite popular with the locals. If you don't mind sitting at the counter area, you can enjoy watching the chefs cook. Also check out their bakery section, they have quite a variety of baked goods.”
