Great day for spring skiing. I love how they have really gone to great lengths to mark rocks and bare spots to help keep people safe. This resort is never crowded. Great bunny hill for learners. Love the atmosphere
Tamarack Resort is a real estate venture with a ski area attached to it. The terrain is decent, the lifts are modern and the views are spectacular. However, Tamarack has broken the social contract that every other ski resort I’ve ever visited has upheld… That is, a lift ticket at Tamarack does not include a shared indoor space for guests to simply warm-up and rest. There’s no base lodge, instead there’s a series of interconnected “restaurants” bedecked with abrasive signs warning guests not to eat their own food.
Instead of building a ski destination with a nice base lodge, Tamarack built a faux European village which is architecturally interesting but offers nothing for the basic needs of their guests. Need a place to adjust your boots and dry off your gloves? You’ll have to go order a taco. Does grandma want to rest for a while and read her book? She can head for the steak house. Do the kids need to warm up a little and use the potty? There’s an impressive tap house with self-serve beers that might fit the bill.
On the drive in you’ll pass a multitude of real estate billboards, as you head to the ticket dispenser you’ll pass the sales office, and when you get to the lift you’ll be greeted by a sign restricting half of the gates to an upgrade club. Personally, I prefer feeling like I’m part of a ski community than feeling like a skier commodity.
I have been here in February twice and the conditions have been fantastic. The mountain has a great variety and some 4+ mile long lines. The village is great although only 2 dinner restaurants. Seven Devils (good bar food and great drinks) and The Reserve (high end but casual steak house that books out so reservations are recommended). We took take out from here multiple nights and brought it back to our room. We stayed in Rosebury 304. These condos are top of the line. The finishes and furnishing are incredible. We love it here. The only desires would be for a sit down breakfast spot. Another nice dinner spot. And for the coffee and ice cream shops to stay open until 9pm.
Love Tamarack will definitely be back. My group of 9 had a blast snowmobiling off trail. I took a 3hour snowboard class with Tucker, he was great. I definitely felt I got my moneys worth. He knows the mountain and can adapt to how you’re are learning. He identified I had the basics down and got me in a direction to excel me on the greens. The entire staff as a whole is exceptional and friendly. Thanks J
I was a first time skier a couple weeks ago. I decided to take an adult ski lesson with Butter. He was fantastic. I came in timid and he was so encouraging & an obviously well seasoned instructor. I came out of the lesson feeling accomplished & more confident. Butter made it easy to start a new sport. Definitely recommend!
