El Cortez is my go to Mexican restaurant in the area. My family and I have been coming here for decades. I've tried other places, but always come back to El Cortez. The chips and salsa are the best. I don't know what they do, but they are awesome every time. You can tell the salsa is made fresh as there are some variences in the spice level depending on the day. Always delicious though. The fajitas and enchiladas are my top dishes, and they have many other wonderful options. The portions are good in size for the price point. I always have leftovers.

I felt that the overall experience was okay. The place is great and all. The staff is friendly. But I felt as if the waitress could have been a little more attentive.

The food was good... Depending on what you ate. The chips and salsa were delicious. The quesadilla was excellent. The enchilada was great! The skirt steak.... Didn't even taste like meat. Didn't taste any flavoring. The only good thing about the piece of meat was the portion size and the way I wanted it cooked. Would I still go back? Sure. But I'll order something else.

Excellent cheeses and salsa. Fresh ingredients are the key here. The salsa is the best red salsa in the southwest suburbs. The chips and salsa are free with 20$ purchase and make it worthwile. Not the friendliest welcome when picking up carryout but the food makes you forget. However, servers are nice enough if you eat in.
