Mikkey’s Retro Grill run out of Chicago’s Hyde Park area is one of the best Mom and Pop diners around when it comes to classic American fast food. If you’re looking for a place to get great burgers, loaded fries, and milkshakes this is it. After growing up in the kitchen and pursuing a career in one, I’m trained to know what great food tastes, smells and looks like. The staff is super nice and helpful and it's a really cozy place to hang out and eat. The angus Mikkey Cheese Burger with special sauce was absolutely delicious! Hand crafted, light and tasty are just a few words to describe the burger. It came with a healthy helping of fries for $7.99. The wait for a meal is about 20 minutes on average but the grill keeps you entertained through the wait with it’s constant streaming of mainstream music and the lively banter of the staff. If you’re looking for a cool milkshake you might be out of luck depending on the time of day since they seem to always be out of ice cream when you need it the most. Mikkey’s Retro Grill is the perfect place for a fun family night out and puts a spin on every dish that pops out of their kitchen.
Cons: nacho cheese didn't blend well with beef , yet surprisingly hadn't taken away beef flavor . they don't have sweet peppers for beef's. And the meet is minced like applesauce . kinda high on price .I've had better
Pros: flavor, fries sauce , had two different kinds .one spicy went well with Rico jerk Burger . cooked fresh.
Let me just say the customer service at the Stony Island location is the BEST! We we're greeted with smiles!! The food was hot and good! I got the "No I.D". burger with fresh cut fries and "Teryn's" Chocolate Oreo Shake (vegan). A little pricey but it was well worth.
If time is of an essence then you might want to call in before you come. However, they have one of the best impossible burgers in chicago. And guess what? You can wash it down with their new vegan vanilla shake, man this thing will Harlem shake your taste buds and your body!
