I love Francesca's! Great Italian food and they have a fantastic lasagna thats only available on Tuesdays.
Twas the night of Christmas, so we took a 5:30 reservation for four with a grain of salt. Deciding between two deep red wines, our waitress suggested we try her "Sunday treat", which to us was no treat. One person ordered the bisque, and my friend and I decided to split a salad, and we asked to have it served with our main course. The soup, and kitchen split salad, came out ahead of dinner. Dinner was fine. Nothing spectacular but not bad. I'm sure we'll be back again one day, but it'll take some time before we get back there.
This was a fantastic experience!
The food was really tasty. I could feel myself back in Italy with the delicious pasta I had.
The locale is cozy, not too loud. The waitress was super efficient and kind to us.
The price is according to what you get: excellent food!
Warm, festive ambiance. No rubber band calamari here! Attentive wait staff generous portions. I'll be back.
A rather large restaurant, but partitioned so it still conveys the impression of a more intimate place. Dark wood paneling adds to the warm atmosphere. Large windows overlooking busy Bryn Mar Street allow for plenty natural light and good views of one of Chicago's pretty historic neighborhoods. The staff is courteous and friendly, and knowledgeable of the items served. The waiters are well able to make excellent food and wine recommendations. The menu offers a wide variety of Italian dishes and, of course, there is also pizza. The service is prompt. The food is delicious, and the presentation makes it also a feast for the eyes. The only negative point is the 80s rock music that makes the acoustic background. It is grating and prevents a truly relaxed, cozy atmosphere. In my opinion low classical music (Baroque) or jazz would be so much more appropriate. Of course, the peffect Italian touch would be Italian music. I found the music so annoying that I gave 4 instead of an otherwise deservedly 5 points rating.
