I'm not totally sure what this place is--cocktail bar? Jewish deli? Burger and beers? It's a mash of all of the above, a little something for everyone, and I've enjoyed all 3. I particularly recommend the Rachel sandwhich (like a reuben but with turkey, and the sauce is really good) or the classic burger (with the same sauce, yum). The namesake pickles are good, too, although I personally think they're too sweet.
I was visiting Chicago for the very first time about 2 months ago and we just happened to walk by Half Sour and decided to have a couple of beers. Jesse (barman) and another guy (I am sorry I cannot remember his name!) made our visit so pleasant! They were they kindness guys ever!
10 stars! Thanks a lot!!!
Great neighborhood bar. About a year ago when Half Sour first opened, the menu didn't have many good options and quality was spotty. However, recently, they've really stepped up their game. The new chicken sandwich is amazing, as is the bread pudding french toast and steak Benedict for brunch. Cocktails are solid, and there's often good drink specials during the week. We also love their trivia on Tuesdays. Even if you've tried before, would highly recommend trying Half Sour!
The event space is nice and we had a fun time. The bartenders were friendly and made.good drinks. Malort shots were only $5!!
Half Sour is located right across the street from where I live so it's a great option for a good burger, fresh soup or a tasty beverage. The food here is always consistent although the menu isn't that expansive. I guess its true what they say; know what you do and do what you know!
