Highway House

Very deceiving in size, food was very good. We were not in a hurry, so to us service was good. Nice old school character. Love the bar , looks almost as I remember it 45 years ago when I would walk there with my grandfather.

Food was great. We had a large group . People were very nice except at the end after we paid the bill they brought over another bill of a sandwich they forgot to change us for. Left a bad taste in our mouth.

Soup was really good, the fish, fritters were very tasty, only problem was the sandwich, & fries, order something else....bread wasn't good, the owner said"it's fresh" it wasn't.

The food is consistently GOOD and the prices are reasonable for what you get. Everthing I have eaten has been prepared fresh: you can tell frozen fish from fresh fish. The service is always good no matter how busy it gets. It's a hidden gem on the NW side!

Give me that mushroom soup, southwestern salad, Karen and a beer! Love hanging out with Karen, the bartender, server, entertainer and comedian. Wish they had a [house made] veggie burger on the menu with a healthy bun. Besides that, no complains! I'm just a vegetarian with limited options on most menus so that's my only lil tip. Highway house has quickly became my favorite restaurant on the northwest side. Other things on the pro list: the lovely team that runs this place, the establishment itself is beautiful. Lovely outdoor seating, cool wood interiors. Try it out! My parents and boyfriend are obsessed with the salmon too (I dont eat fish) so give that a try if you like to eat water animals.
