Boca Loca Cantina Andersonville

After a warm greeting by the hosts, we chose to sit at the bar to get an idea of the drink selection prior to ordering food. The bar tender was very accommodating and patient while we weighed our options, never once making us feel pressured. The standard margarita I ordered was made was very nicely salted, delicious, and strong. The guac appetizer surprised me with its heat, creamy texture, and taste that was paired nicely with the salted chips.

My yardstick for a Mexican-themed restaurant is their fajitas. Many places make a great fajita, and Boca Loca is no exception. However, the steak fajita here stood out for me by actually cutting the steak into manageable cubes and not forcing my teeth to shear though a 6" long slice of skirt steak. The shrimp I stole off my boyfriend's plate was also a pleasant surprise with how nicely seasoned it was.

I was familiar with this place when it was Hutch and wanted to give it a try in its new concept.

I was impressed both with the friendly and attentive staff, the ambiance, and the food. Our bartender was awesome and both the guac and the fajitas I had were spicy and flavorful. Hutch often had a reputation for being bland but I have to say nothing about my visit or the food was bland. It was simple and flavorful - just as you would expect fajitas to be.

I do wish they had some more variety of wines and other spirits, but I get that it is a tequila and beer forward Mexican theme, so no big deal.

As for the people posting poor reviews saying the food lacked flavor and seasoning - they may want to have their doctor check their taste buds....

Noticed a new restaurant in the neighborhood and my girlfriend decided to stop by for dinner. The bartender Nicholas made an amazing Marg! Our server Quentin was super on top of everything! It was all perfect. Food was 👌Love the atmosphere here, really boosts your mood! Definitely will be back next weekend. Thanks Boca!
