Simply an amazing experience. We stumbled across this location as my daughter was in a seafood mood. What a wonderful experience. The decor was what you would normally expect from seefood restaurants, but that was the only thing normal about our experience. The service was outstanding as our attendant was attentive and provided answers to all of our questions. The food itself was so tasty that although I eas only able to try a couple of pieces of the items that I ordered, they were good enough to earn my coveted "Certified Mad Good" rating. Best coconut shrimp in town and their wings were both cruspy and flavorful. I hear they have a few locations around town, but if in the area, you can't go wrong with this location.
The place is clean and fairly quiet. The foods (seafood) we ate were good and the fried chicken basket was ok. For appetisers we tried the crabby deviled eggs, French fries (not just plain) & onion rings...oh also the fried pickles. The onion rings were quite good. The batter had a slightly sweet hint. The fries had like an old bay seasoning and some type of aioli. The fried pickles were spears not rounds...BE CAREFUL they will be boiling hot inside when they are first brought to the table. Not a table favorite...should be rounds rather than spears. The deviled crabby eggs were awesome; the table favorite (of the appetisers.
Main courses: Our table had mostly create your own Boils....1 person had the pasta (said was good), another had scallops also good. They are served with corn and red potatoes. Note: all red potatoes served were a bit under done for all of us. Not raw but definitely just barely on the done meter. The corn on the cob was very good. Also a VERY IMPORTANT note....there are no special utensils to Crack the crab claws. You are given a fork, a bucket for shells, and a plate. Also a little packet that contains a pair of gloves and an apron. They really need to add utensils to Crack the claws more effectively.
Next important note: alcoholic beverages were very small and not that great...would not have cocktails again. Beer was fine.
Lastly, 2 in our group had the chocolate cake and not a crumb was left behind so must have been very good. Another note, they do not have coffee so don't expect coffee with your dessert.
All and all, we all enjoyed the seafood...if you like spice make sure to order up on the spice level or you may think it not spicy enough. I ordered garlic butter no spice at all and was quite tasty.
First time at Crab Du Jour Cajun Seafood Bar. Service and staff are top notch, quick with our reservation, drinks and attentive when needed. Was a bustling Saturday night with the Final Four on the screens and still plenty of onsite parking. Menu is pleasing and easy to read... Had a bunch of specials but nothing on Friday or Saturday nights, bummer. We started with a dozen shucked oysters and asked for rolls and unfortunately had to order garlic bread. Shellfish tip... One should never eat oysters on an empty stomach. We waited a bit and enjoyed watching the servers shake up seafood baskets. When our entrees came out; fried shrimp basket and Cajun Seafood bag. We enjoyed the same presentation. Crab Du Jour Breaded shrimp and cajun fries are a must! Crispy, tender and really tasty. We wouldn't consider the $19.99 large legs "large" and would think the smaller $14.99 would suffice. A 1 lb a person can split. The suggested butter, garlic and Cajun mix are the bomb paired with the garlic bread and food coma awaits. Wines are a healthy $6 pour, as well as $3 endless fountain drinks. Will definitely be back to take advantage of weekday Happy Hour specials. Hopefully will make Crab Du Jour Cajun Seafood Bar our new go to crab joint.
Oh man! This place is so good. I didn't know they have a seafood restaurant here in north avenue til I went to a nearby store and saw this crab sign at the front.
I tried the seafood combo with the crab cluster, shrimp, mussels with cajun sauce. It was really good. The ambiance is nice and the staff really cares about your dinning experience. Parking doesn't have any problem coz they have their own. I will definitely come back here.
We had the crab meat fries as an app (delicious) and we ordered 1 pound headless shrimp and 1 pound mussels. We got the medium heat level and it was not spicy/hot at all. More spice please. The place looks very nice, good vibes and friendly staff.
