Irie Jerk

Flavor:
Although it was not smoked, which in my opinion is the absolute best flavor of good jerk, it was very good! The food was not over spiced in jerk hotness but had good balance, right down to the excellent jerk sauce. Also, the catfish was not blackened and spiced to jerk hell as I find it in most jerk restaurants. The rice & gravy could have used a little more flavor and my son thought the cabbaged needed a bit more punch on the flavor. The plantain was fresh and tender but could have used a bit more of a honey type glaze over it to make it perfect. Overall, I found the flavor acceptable, especially the catfish which was crisp outside, soft and tender inside and quite tasty.

Portion Size/Value:
The bag was heavy, which was the first good sign. The chicken piece sizes as well as the catfish were nice medium sized cuts of meat. Nothing was skimpy, including the wings. The Cat Dinner came with 3 pieces of chunky fish steaks, rice and gravy plus two sides and it was filling. They passed the mark and I did not feel I had been taken. In fact, they came in 6 dollars cheaper than most jerk restaurants in the area fro this same order, with larger cuts of meat making them worth returning for.

Staff, Atmosphere & Cleanliness:
In person service was far better than phone service. The phone order taker was rather abrupt on the phone and failed to terminate the greeting properly after I placed my order. I think it would do well for any business that interfaces with a client on the phone ahead of meeting them to realize that that each time they speak to someone; they are talking to a potential new customer. It only takes about 2.5 seconds to say thanks for your order please pickup in about twenty minutes, and then hang up the phone. That abrupt click does not leave you with a pleasant feeling. However, when I arrived I found the cashier to be pleasant and did acknowledge me as soon as I approached.

The Atmosphere is store-front, carry out with countertop and high chairs if you need to get your grub on right away. The restaurant appeared to be well equipped to produce it’s product and had a ready oven for completed orders to keep food warm for pickup at the cashiers immediate back. As far as I could see, it was clean.

I would definitely order from them again!

Food was EXCELLENT! However there was 3 youthful staff members that was too playful with each other and not focusing on the customers, request. Although the young man did repeat my order back 3x's. There was one female teen who too busy playing with her hair. Yeah her hair! Wrapping it up putting it in a scarf. Behind the counter. Overall food prices were good.

First time eating from here today and it was very good. A huge portion and it didn't take that long for my order to be ready. I'll be coming back????????

quite delicious food, i got the jerk chicken with the plantains and my gentleman friend got the curry goat. so juicy and seasoned just right, will certainly be visiting again for good times and great food. the employees are also nice and helpful.
