I've been eating at Dixie Kitchen since it was in Hyde Park so I was very excited to discover this location. The Johnny cakes were the calling card of the restaurant along with the cajun, creole food that was served without flaw . This location has a smaller menu, and no Johnny cakes were served as we waited for our food. The service was really good and the food was tasty, but I was a little disappointed that the Dixie Kitchen that I had hoped to experience wasn't what I was met with here.
Very close to authentic Louisiana style gumbo. The fried green tomatoes were decent, portions were average. I liked but did not love the food. The nostalgia in the atmosphere reminded me of a southern kitchen. Service was typical, no high or low points.
We Enjoyed the Fried Catfish and Fried Green Tomatoes.
And Our Waiter Was Very Attentive.
Will Definitely Make this a Regular on my List.
Food is great, service was good. Everyone is so polite. Keep in mind if something is described as spicy it is actually spicy. This isn't a fast food chain where spicy means mild. They make traditional creole food which means spicy is spicy as heck.
