Small meal with a large shake.
Shakes are half price if you go before 5. Go ahead and wait...it's busy
    Been happy Everytime we go.
Look for the coupons that come in the mail flyers. All four of us eat big for less.

Worked late Sunday, saved by Steak & Shake on way home. Good service hours into later evening. 10 or 11pm close. Above average pricing but I think S&S burger fare is big time cut above and customizing options are outstanding. Sourdough breads are excellent for starters. Various sides make great complement to sandwiches. Skinny fries are great but eat 'em quick, lose their appeal when cold, onions rings a better choice IMO. Love their shakes. I'm a straight up 1 flavor at a time guy, my bride likes multi flavor "stripes". We hit S&S about 6 times a year. Dine-In rarely wait for seating. Sometimes 2-5 minute wait for server, usually shorter. 10-15 minutes for order delivery. Servers usually very attentive even when busy. Facilities mostly very clean. Staff usually very upbeat, appropriately chatty. Carry out usually 10 minute wait. S&S does a Frisco-Melt Burger w/Bacon that is to DIE FOR!Gotta try this if never been to S&S. Genial fellow who served me last night had great sense of humor, and we shared a laugh as I stumbled around and fumbled my CC, swiped card forgetting chip, and started laughing, turning card around and still did not have the chip end in place. This is what happens when I do 10 hour work day on Sunday...fumblaya. Laughter is good...I like these people, unflappable, always cool and willing to help. Ate my fries before out the door, took Frisco-Melt, Onion rings & Vanilla shake home, little reheat and had leisurely late lunch/dinner. A good Sunday and Steak & Shake helped. ????????????

Good food for not being expensive. You can go here on a budget. And get out spending less than your budget. This location in particular needs to hire more help because it took over 5 minutes to be seated and there were plenty of open tables and no one in front of us. We now have been seated for over 5 minutes and no waiter or waitress has come to the table yet. The other locations I have been to are Elk Grove Village and Rosemont those locations are better with service. I only come to this one because it is the closest to where I live.
