Carrot cake and key lime pie were so good ????
Thanks to google, i found this gem in Effingham. I literally couldn't love a menu more. We were headed to Florida and this was the best place to get our cuban on and get us excited
Excellent food! Great atmosphere. Only downside is it isn't open very much or for very long when it is open. It was pleasantly busy! Great eating experience!
YEA! What an amazing small restaurant! This is a jewel in the crown of Arcola. Enjoyed a scrumptious lunch there this week. Chef Gary is a master of original, homemade cuisine. The bowl of Mushroom-Artichoke soup accompanied by fresh, warm garlic bread was delicious to say the least. This was followed by the always yummy Grouper sandwich. The grouper was plentiful and prepared to grilled perfection. The accompaniments of a tasty sauce, fresh greens and sweet red onion between a homemade bun added to the perfection. I chose the Kale salad as a side. Excellent, in the fact, that the kale was baby kale with a sprinkling of freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Had a small taste of my luncheon partner’s desert. Oh my, Peach-Raspberry Melba. Homemade vanilla ice cream surrounded by poached peaches all topped with raspberry sauce and large, fresh red raspberries. Chef’s homemade ice creams are scrumptious and vary depending on the menu he designs daily.
One extra note, Chef had some of his baking expertise available for sale in the form of small loaves of a sweet cinnamon, brown sugar, maple bread. Excellent with morning coffee or afternoon tea. And, small loaves of Italian bread.
Treat yourself to a memorable Daily Kneads’ lunch as often as you can. Remember no credit cards. And, this is not a fast food venue!!!
If you're looking for a Cuban Flair this is the place to go. It's very small and is only open from 11 till 2 just serving lunch, but the food is amazing. I got a 7 ounce hamburger with avocado on it, came with a side of fries, the fries are just excellent, best fries I've ever eaten, crispy and very light with a touch of seasoning that I can't describe, very good. My wife got a Cuban Flair grilled cheese sandwich, came with the Tomato base type of dip reminded her a little bit of tomato soup but thick and chunky and very good. Also with a side of Cuban style succotash, corn, black beans, onions, peppers and tomato bits, and man was it good. I highly recommend trying it. The owner seemed very friendly, cash and check only, very quaint. The only reason I didn't give it 5 Stars is because it's only open from 11 to 2 and it is a little pricey.
