Jade Dragon Restaurant

Fantastic food! Sizzling rice soup, egg rolls, cashew chicken! Outstanding!!

Great spot downtown Hinsdale. Been at Jade Dragon a number of times lately since I loved one has been at Hinsdale Hospital.
They are always friendly and accommodating. Moreover, the food is outstanding. I am partial to starting with Hot and Sour soup followed by spicy and tasty Szechwan Chicken. Also love the Scallion Pancakes.

Fantastic food, friendly service, and nice atmosphere!

Exponential quality, taste blended nice and practically melted in my mouth. It is cheap too so what's not to like? I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a nice comforting meal with a friendly staff.

Jade Dragon is the literal example of the just good enough restaurant. If it were a letter grade it would be a C. It's a passing grade. Not good, not great, but what do you expect?
I think this speaks to a larger trend in the American restaurant industry. In the eighties and nineties we as diners were okay with the Americanized Chinese food that thrived across the Midwest. General Tsao's Chicken, which is a wholly American invention, was somehow a gold standard for Chinese dining. However, all of that has changed with the desire for authentic ethnic foods. Of course, Jade Dragon hasn't changed.
And so what is Jade Dragon? It's basically the fried and sauced meat-centric dishes you expect from American-Chinese food. Egg Rolls, Beef and Broccoli, Fried Rice, Governor's Chicken, essentially you name it and they do it. And none of it is amazing, but again, none of it's exactly bad either. It's in essence a form of junk food.
I don't really recommend dining in. The restaurant is fairly drab and the big sidewalk window has you on full display for any onlooker (not to mention no bar). The service is fine, but nothing to tout either. This is best eaten as take out food. I recommend a nice pairing of a box of wine and shameful eating alone at home.
