Really amazing location, the building itself and history are enough to go, and then you have the food...YUM! Try the coconut shrimp salad! It was a great experience I would drive 2.5 hrs again!
Came in off the interstate for lunch.
Great ambiance. Lots of work done here to save the look and feel of the old hardware store that was here for years, according to the hostess.
The wife had coconut shrimp salad for lunch, very tasty.
I had the Cuban sandwich. The menu indicated that it had a marinated component.
Not really what I was expecting. The chef had marinated the beef portion of it in an odd flavor maybe with some type of vegetable as well?, making it somewhat drippy with this unusual taste.
Not A bad taste, but not a good taste either. I was really expecting something close to just a plain pressed Cuban sandwich.
I had asked if it was pressed and the server had checked and returned, saying that it was indeed.
Unfortunately when it came back it was a typical loose sandwich. Not a Cuban, but something else...
All in all tho, a great place to eat and meet friends, good service, friendly people. Quaint little town.
Fantastic! Clean, calm, quiet which I appreciate. Service was stellar and the food was well above the standards of Auburn's usual restaurants. A taste of elegance with a touch of the exotic, while remaining firmly planted in the element of Auburn's Historic downtown. You feel as though you are walking into a nostalgic restaurant you see in old movies. Yet, the upstairs lounge and the dining area are very sleek and modern, but not gaudy In appearance. This is without a doubt the best restaurant In the City of Auburn, and one of the finest in Indiana.
Don't let the prices scare you. You get much more than you pay for. The food is fabulous and on Thursdays they have top shelf entertainment. The only minor problem is getting reservations straight. I thought I was very clear on where we wanted to be the last time, but apparently not. They did make an effort to get us close and it was an enjoyable night.
My husband and I got to check out the Auburn Steakhouse on our last date night. We each had prime rib (he had the actual entre and I had the prime rib salad). It was delicious!!! The best local steaks we've had. The restaurant itself is beautiful as well. Great experience.
