Noticed this new Mexican restaurant in the old Bennigens building so we decided to give them a try. I had the Texas Fajitas my wife their Beef Chimichanga. Holy cow the flavor in my entree was incredible the meat was plentiful and easy to chew and plenty of fixings. My wife’s entree was flavorful also and there were two chimichangas covered in their white cheese and a whole gob of refried beans. I ordered thru the app on their website which does upcharge you a couple of bucks but worth it. This is our new go to for Mexican in Elkhart. So if you’re in the neighborhood stop in.
Carnitas Mexicanas
was plentiful and had lots of pork!
Big spot, actually good carnitas (Indiana not so known for good mex food), but this place has good stuff.
Excellent Mexican food. We had the taco and enchilada combo, Quesobirrias, and the Grande Burrito Loco. All were excellent. Food came out super quick and was delicious. Our server was amazing, but she was unable to come back to the table and refill drinks because she seemed to be handling most of the tables even though there were several servers. She was very sweet and apologetic. We would definitely return.
Wow!! Great job with the paint job separating the hotel from the restaurant! The moment you open the doors you are greeted with smiles from all the staff. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming it instantly sets you up for a good time. Great environment! The freshest of chips and salsa were delivered immediately to our table while we went over the menu. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable with a great attitude. Had fun chit chatting about her transferring from the Goshen restaurant to here in Elkhart and we are so grateful she did! It wasn't a long wait until our food was brought out and it was perfection. Thanks to Rafael for being so kind and helping us get menus for the residents where we work and for answering all of our questions! Thanks to all of the employees for making it such a memorable first time dining! Highly recommend El Rancho Viejo!
Exceptional staff, nice atmosphere, good food. My wife and I stopped in for lunch to check this new place out. Outstanding decor and super pleasant server. Salsa is smooth and tasty, chips were a bit greasy tasting and needed salt though certainly not a deal breaker. She had the #1 lunch special (Chili Relleno, taco and guacamole salad) Chili Relleno does not come with red sauce but server brought her some red enchilada sauce.....good but spicy.....and some green enchilada sauce.....very good and milder. Guacamole was delicious and appeared freshly made.
I had the chicken chimichanga. That was very good as well. It even came with 3 warm tortillas for the rice and beans (along with any chimichanga/lettuce/sour cream/tomatoe/guacamole leftovers).
We will return..... the fried ice cream looks yummy!
