House of Soul Cafe - Carmel

I ordered online for pickup a few minutes after they opened in the morning. It took about an hour from when I ordered to when I walked out of the restaurant (it took 20 minutes just to confirm the order) which was killing me since I've been so excited to try this place. However, as soon as I opened the takeout containers, I didn't care one bit. It was sooooo good! The fried biscuits were amazing when they were hot and fresh, and they were still fantastic later on when they were cold. The macaroni and cheese was thick and delicious. The greens were tender and tasty. The green beans tasted just like my grandma had made them. But the real star was the catfish... Holy smokes. Crispy and flavorful on the outside, moist and tender on the inside. I wish I had ordered a double portion. I'm always on the lookout for good fried catfish, and this is one of best I've had in quite a while. I hope they open up another location a little closer to the Fishers area so I can go there all the time. They also have live music on Fridays - I hope to catch it next time. 10/10!

I got the chicken and catfish and both were phenomenal. Add on the green beans and mac and cheese and this place is fire! Got a side of collard greens to go and wasn't disappointed in the slightest. My wife and I waited for about 15 minutes, but you can DEFINITELY tell that the meats are fried right as you order and not sitting near a heat lamp. I have a Twitch show and when I have guests come on, we are coming here before the show, full stop.

So many good things to mention about this place!
1. My family were greeted as soon as we entered!
2. Food was cooked fast, served hot, and it was DELICIOUS! They cook with SOUL, (yes food is seasoned like Grandma used to do it) ANDDD Chile don't get me started on the Straw/Lemonade Cake. It's worth the $5, GET IT. I will be returning for sure! Glad to have it in Carmel! Okay Rant over. 👌
