My wife and I have eaten here twice both times carry out and even though they were busy we still don't have to wait real long for our food. Both times are eating experiences been delightful. The food was good and well seasoned and the portions were pretty adequate. We do however wish that the pork chops were a little bit meatier. Steel they were very enjoyable. I think we've had the smothered pork chops twice the next time we're going to go for the fried.
I’ve gone Kountry Kitchen one time before this with out of town family members and the food was excellent, I had the fried chicken which was great! I took my son and his wife and kids there last night and the chicken was no where near what it was the first time I came, nor did the yams. The greens and Mac and cheese was excellent. The chicken tasted like it was cooked in old grease. And it tasted a little burnt. I was a little disappointed with the chicken, but that’s not to say I won’t come again, I feel they just maybe had an off day last night. We’ll see what the next visit brings.
I was really disappointed in my experience at Kountry Kitchen. I got the two meats with two sides. The pork chop was VERY thin and--I can't believe I'm saying this--the gravy wasn't seasoned much at all. My other side was fried catfish, which was fantastic! So good, came out piping hot and was truly the star of the meal beyond the duck wings we ordered as an app. But the meal pretty much went downhill from there. The okra was lukewarm, like it had been sitting in a warmer all day, the mac and cheese literally tasted like it came from a blue Kraft box.
The service also left a lot to be desired. There was one table finishing up when we walked in and then two tables were seated after us, but only one waitress. Our water was never refilled and we weren't really checked on at all, from what I could tell the other tables got similar treatments.
I've heard nothing, but great things about this place all my life, but my experience did not live up to the hype. I'm so sad because I love supporting local businesses, especially black-owned ones. Not sure I'll be back to give them another chance.
