“A friend and I stopped by for the lunch buffet, it was excellent. Many kinds of hot fresh pizza, great salad bar, 3 kinds of hot soup and a hot food bar with roast beef, potatoes and gravy and lots more. Lots of great deserts and free refills of pop. “I ordered some pasta and cheese sticks and when I ordered I didn’t realize it didn’t come with marinara sauce so I asked the driver why I didn’t get any and his response was “do you want some?” He actually went back to the store and brought me dipping sauce! Nice to see great customer service like this, even when it was my mistake. Food was also great!”

“I do a lot of traveling and found this to be my favourite so far. Nothing fancy, all done right here, and is good. Prices are reasonable and fair. For less than $10 you can have a sandwich and some fresh made pie! Fresh! Been in the same location since 1936 and when you go; you'll know why they're still there. Enjoy!”

“This is a favorite place of ours to stay in Ottumwa. We had a very large room this time. It's an older place that's been very well taken care of. There's a restaurant in one end and a bar in the other end. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It's downtown, so there's plenty to see if you want to go for a walk. “I walked in. I received two smiles and complement on my suit. Asked about breakfast and got full order of biscuits and gravy(on point delicious) and a jumbo blueberry muffin. $ 6.95 within 3 min was seated and eating. great service and nice atmosphere.I would love to have an option for juice at least rather than only coffee or tea but it is a coffee shop.”

“Not certain to authenticity, but I will say the food was good. The atmosphere was... interesting. I had an issue with my enchilada bite and instead of continuing to fight the bite, I picked it up with my fingers. Only bite I did it with, but the servers got a kick out of it. I only did it once, but I'm fairly certain they were waiting for another...I probably would've. My waiter was pleasant and made a suggestion that I took. I was, and am, pleased with the choice. I recommend this place if you're looking for a cheap, well portioned meal. Enjoy!”

“Market in Main is a great place to visit for a business lunch, family night out, or for a date night. With a wonderful variety of events from comedy nights to, my personal favorite, trivia nights, to Latin dance nights! The upstairs has several food options available like burritos, brick oven pizza and Tai. The staff are just amazing and really helpful. They rent this space out for events like business gatherings, weddings and so on. The bar always has drink specials and a good assortment of draft beer and a large array of domestic and import beers. Trust me, the market on main has something fun that will interest you! Do yourself a favor and go, you'll have fun and if you don't, it's your item fault!”

“This is a stand at MARKET ON MAIN. High quality rather than huge quantity. These are not the burritos that are the size of a baby. They are very good, a little smaller than some other places but also less expensive than other places. Try the red spiced pork; it's not spicy hot. Great flour tortillas.”

“This place is reverting to what it used to be! I've ordered here twice in the past few weeks and have had a very positive experience both times. For starters, the person on the phone didn't sound stoned, and has provided accurate cook times and totals as I've placed my order. The person running the register has been alert, courteous, and acknowledges customers. A welcome change from a year or so ago. The inside also looks a bit cleaner and whatever the cause of the perpetual wet floor sign was, it's apparently been fixed. The food itself WAS ACCURATE. Many reviews in the last few years have mentioned this and I had experienced it myself. I'm pleased to say this seems to have been remedied! The pizzas have been generously topped and perfectly cooked. The chicken was also very good. I assume there was either a change in ownership or management that happened and it has all been for the better. If you're considering ordering but reluctant due to some of the past few years I'll encourage you to give this place another shot.”
