“I’ve been coming here for years. Family favorite. It isn’t a typical Mexican restaurant. You won’t get chips and salsa brought to your table. It’s kind of a tex-mex style restaurant. You walk-in and order at the counter. Then go find a seat. Staff brings you your food. Staff is always so helpful and nice. We usually get deluxe Sancho, taco burgers, hard shell tacos and enchiladas. Sometimes nachos, heads up it’s not normal nachos. No cheese sauce! It’s all about the beef they use, it’s yummy!”

“Independence Kansas today at lunch time on my way home. Saw this place on the way in to town at hit it on the way out. This place is a great find and worth the stop if between KC from Tulsa. Only a couple of miles off from the 169. The place looked very low key and I was stopping in for a late lunch at 2pm so it was not busy when I arrived with only one other table with customers. Waitress was friendly and helpful. Ordered the 3 piece fried fish and 3 piece fried oysters with red beans and rice and green beans as sides. Service was fast Food arrive and it was piping hit straight out of the dryer. The portion size was huge. 3 really big pieces of catfish and oysters. The breading was southern style with cornmeal. Breaking open the crust steam and juices came gushing out of the oysters. Delicious. The star today however was the catfish. Perfectly cooked and moist. Seasoning was spot on with the right amount of breading. Their tartar sauce was the perfect complement with the meal and the hush puppies were not shabby either. Sometimes some restaurants neglect their sides but not Sam's. They were taking care of business today. The green beans were pretty good but the red beans and rice was amazing. Get this this as a side if ordering a meal....highly recommended. Sadly I was so stuffed I couldn't eat any more and had to pass on ordering the fried pies the waitress recommended. Will have to order a smaller meal next time to leave room for the pie.”

“This was our first visit here and overall it was just okay. The blue cheese dressing was fabulous and by far the best thing we tried. The spin dip was okay, but was very under seasoned and the chips served with it were burnt. We had to adjust our order multiple times because many items from the menu weren't available. After ordering coffee we were informed there wasn't any form of creamer available for it. The main dinning room smells a bit musty like an old library and overall the place has charm in some areas, but is really falling short of making the most of the space. We tried 2 of the specialty pizzas and they were good. Again, the flavor was better with some salt and pepper but should have been served with more seasoning than it was. We had a wonderful service! The guy taking care of our table, not sure on the name, but had dark curly hair, did all he could to make the best of our visit. He was quick to fill drinks and helped guide us around the holes in the menu.”

“Brand new pizza chain opened this week in Independence, KS. First visit went well; ordered carry out from the app. At first it said online orders were unavailable at this location. A couple minutes later I checked again and it was operational. For being a brand new team the staff seemed to be working well together. Food was hot and delicious, the only thing that could improve was the pizza not being cut all the way through. I'm happy to have another option here in Independence.”

“Our experience eating here last night wasn't the best. A person in our party had a sore mouth and couldn't end up eating. Asked to take the one plate of food home, since it wasn't eaten. Would not let us. Did not load up from the buffet, it was the one plate of food. They refused. Floors, carpet was dirty and stained. Food was so-so, and not the quality it was in the past. There is a For-Sale sign out front. Have eaten here many times in the past, but can't recommend at this point.”
