Africa & Caribbean Imports / Cuisine - Take out

Having worked on this side of Lexington for over a year and a half, I was surprised that I hadn't visited this place before. The front of the building has a nice variety of African and Carribbean goods as well as some homemade pastries and perfumes. The back of the store is where the restaurant is located. It's a small area without tables or chairs, but it seems that the point is to take it to go or order it online through GrubHub or DoorDash.

They offer a nice selection of meals and foods and do have a few vegetarian options, which is nice. I wasn't too keen on most of their menu mainly because I've never tried oxtail and I'm not a huge fan of goat or fish, but I did order the Jerk Chicken ($7.99) and it was good. The chicken was flavorful and the Joloff rice had a nice warmth (I ordered it 'spicy' and I think it could have been a lot hotter than it really was). I loved the plantains and the vegetables, though! The veggies were fresh and crisp and the plantains tasted like they had been grown locally!

I'll definitely be coming back. It was good food for a decent price.

The food here is amazing, makes me feel like I'm back at home in the Caribbean with how delicious it is!! Small spot but highly recommended. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

The spices are DELICIOUS. Good quantity, and it comes with a drink. The downside? Meat isnt prepped well and tastes very gamey. Also, drumstick and thigh are the only options for chicken, so you white meat lovers are out of luck.

This place was awesome! There is restaurant in that store and it's surprising how good the food is. If you like different food, go there. I love the ox tail meal.
