A great place to enjoy a new and unique drink, great appetizers, and a fun conversation!

Make sure you try the curry fries, you won't be disappointed. The curry sauce at the bottom of the dish compliments the garlic aioli served with it very well. Top it off with the melted cheese and that makes these fries a world above anything else I've had.

The bartenders are always willing to suggest/create something for you so get creative if you aren't interested in their selection of unique cocktails. They have a great selection of beers, Bourbons and their Guinness pours are always flawless and ready for social media. ?

Lexington's BRAND NEW Irish gastropub - in the former Cheapside/Ruddy Duck - opened the last week of January and I went on day 1, just couldn't stay away. I'll say this: We're in for a treat. Paul, one of the partners, was on-hand that evening to meet all the patrons and he's got great big plans in store. Check it out! Also, if you're wondering why I included a picture of a bathroom, you've clearly never set foot in this establishment before - it's a VAST improvement, to say the least! Expanded review to follow when I get a chance to order food, but for the first time, the bar atmosphere was absolutely on point!

UPDATE: I’ve now been to H&J for brunch and it was excellent! Our trio ordered the Full Irish Breakfast, Shepherd’s Pie, and Egg & Cheese. I was so curious about the black and white pudding that I had to order a side of it, too. Unfortunately, it has almost no flavor (unlike goetta, which it’s often compared with by doesn’t hold a candle to) so I won’t be doing that again. For drinks we ordered a Bloody Mary, Gin Fizz, grapefruit Mimosa, and Guinness. We would have loved to linger but a) the drinks were pretty expensive for what they were and b) UK was playing at home and a lengthy line had formed. I can’t wait to go back for dinner and sample some more Irish grub!

The place looks really good. They've made some nice improvements to the decor and restrooms, and the atmosphere favors a place serving Irish comfort food. The bar area and the entire restaurant were very busy which shows folks still love this location. I sampled the shepherd's pie (4/5) and the Guinness stew (3/5). The portions were a bit smaller than I had hoped and the stew was unfortunately undercooked, but the place is still very new and likely still figuring a few things out. I'll likely visit again to try a few other dishes.
