My favorite was the roasted bri. I also enjoyed the escargot, the pizza and the ribeye steak was delicious. I loved the outdoor seating as well. The service was exceptional.

A slight breeze shimmered the recent rains in the courtyard canopy. The soon setting sun bright gold reflections against black iron chairs. And a trumpets mellow tones a call to comfort. The scene, as the table, is set and the plate is placed.

A marvel in delicacy and balance as the flavors roll across the tongue and into the mind. Each bite successively slower, a vain attempt to eternalize the moment. A final bite, and a fond smile.

I had the crab cakes and the grilled tuna and both were amazing, Chef Sarah definitely knows what she is doing. The outdoor seating area is also very pleasant, the only negative on the patio seating was the flies and gnats, everything else was amazing.

I WANT to love Max's. First of all, it's a beautiful restaurant, on a tree-lined brick street, with a lovely courtyard. Parking is all parallel, unless you walk a couple of blocks.

Second, although basic, the menu LOOKS awesome.

I keep going back, anticipating a great meal, but I rarely get one. The food is pricey, but the portions are small. The meat is never cooked right, the sides are just "okay", and they really have no gluten-free options. That being said, they will work with you to alter their entrees, but that leaves you getting basic grilled meat and veggies.

Max's could be so much better, in my opinion. If you're going to spend $$$, I'd choose Cynthia's or The Freight House instead.
