This is one of Baton Rouge's finest for fried chicken...but only at Thursday lunch. The chicken has the best coating with just the right spice flavor. All the specials are served with a choice of two sides...rice and gravy, stuffed potatoes, Italian salad, brocolli, and many more. Each day has it's own specials...today it was the chicken, spaghetti and meatballs, and stuffed green pepper with crabmeat and shrimp. The roast beef poboy is a favorite too. For dessert the peach cobbler with ice cream was delicious. The staff is friendly and attentive. We definitely will go back...for sure next Thursday!!!
This was a great spot for lunch. Went after touring the Old Governors mansion. Great selection of menu items and good lunch specials. Had the catfish special on a Friday. It was nicely done. The wife had a grilled chicken. The southern sides and sensation salads made the meal.
Christina's was easy to find with google. I arrived at opening so there was no wait. I was greeted by friendly staff. I picked my table. Annie was my server and is cordial. I ordered two eggs scrambled, grits, bacon with wheat toast. I must say, this is my second visit to Christina's and the food is still DELICIOUS !!! Everytime I am in Baton Rouge, I will dine here.
So, I drove from Houston to Pensacola today and I stopped in Baton Rouge for lunch. I walk in, take a leak, and then I go to sit at the counter, which was right by the window and I could see I to the kitchen.
Food going out every 5 minutes, it's busy. There's two waitresses, neither of which even give me water.
The busser or whoever (he wasn't taking tables) that's taking care of stuff steps up and takes my order. I know he didn't have to do that, but the dude stepped up and I tipped him 5 bucks.
Anyway, best gumbo I ever had, I actually tipped the chef afterwards. Fried okra was Ok.
I wasn't a fan of the cornbread, but it got 86'd while I was there, so go figure.
Anyone else ever had a weird dning experience like this?
We ordered the stuffed pepper and fried chicken. The chicken was amazing. The pepper was okay. But I will definitely be back. The service was great and the prices wasn’t bad. The plates were about 11$ a piece. Sometimes it can get really busy, but the chicken is worth the wait.
