I love this place! I’ve been here in the past and it’s legit one of the reasons I chose New Orleans to visit over other vacation destinations. Everything I got there was so good. Highly recommend!
I have only been here once, so I will revise my review when I have gone back. Park, then walk in and order at the counter and pick your seat. Ordering is tricky because all of the menus are at the counter and blocked by other customers. Because I could not see the menu until I got to order, I quickly just ordered an omelette. It was good. I wish they had put the butter on the toast while it was warm so it would be melted. The tables are so close together, it was difficult to move without hitting tables and chairs. Everything was clean inside. But the cashiers were white, as was the lady busing the tables and all of the customers. I wonder why there was no one of color at all. The prices were reasonable, and the food worth the price. I am on the fence as to whether or not I will be back. And the fact that they had FOX news on was a bit unsettling. I do realize that being a kosher restaurant, there is a bit of a niche customer base they are attracting, but FOX news rubs against that grain, in my opinion.
Pros: The food was great. I loved the soy sausage patty, it was amazing. I ordred the sampler, which had savory waffles.
Cons: When we first walked in I think it was the owner, he was great, he greeted us cheerfully/immediately at gave us our menus. The waiter, however was very nonchalant. Several times purposely I said thank you to her service for bringing the food & drinks, walking up to get our own to go boxes, & each time she would walk off without any reply or emotion. I was done with my food and placed a napkin over it and she kept watching, but not one time did she ask if we needed a to go box, extra drinks etc. I hate that you have to pay for the tip before the service is actually given because she would have receive $0 tip.
I'm big on customer service. Even if you don't have the best food, people will always come because of the staff and how they make you feel.
Gluten Free Options abound! What? Yes, this menu has a variety of healthier options than most Waffle Diners. They have soy meats, sugar-free syrup and other choices for vegetarians as well. I had the traditional fare. Regular waffles with strawberries, butter and whipped cream - and syrup. Coffee was also good with variety and coffee syrups available. You order at the counter and then your order, when ready, is brought to your table. Definitely would eat breakfast here again. They have sandwiches for lunch, but I didn't try those this time. Next time! Casual dining, with nice atmosphere.
