“Good food but my steak and onion plate was a little on the cheaper cut off meat. Great service and nice and clean place to eat. I love the green banana chips with crema!”

“Updated August 28, 2023: I've been back and had the fried shrimp poboy and ham and cheese poboy. Both were delicious. I guess just stay away from the tacos... I want to love this neighborhood deli/food mart/hole in the wall because I'm doing a project in the area and keep passing it. I got the 3 taco and 3 tamale special. The tacos were fair to poor and for a place with tamales in the name, I was disappointed. They are average at best. However, I will definitely come back and try other items such as their nice looking poboy selection. On a positive note, the ice cold bottle of Barq's was delicious.”

“Great espresso, kind staff. Comfortable little coffee shop and they have King Cake flavored latte. 🤔 If you like excellent, robust, and dark roast, this is your place.”

“My husband and I LOVE this place! The food is fantastic, and the staff is so sweet and attentive. Our last visit we ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai and Thai Basil. Both were cooked to perfection; the flavor is on point; the Thai tea was a perfect treat to top it off. We will be back!”

“We have been a couple of times, and each time has been just wonderful. Last night we were there for a birthday party and we had a small room off the side of the kitchen which was just perfect for the 5 of us. The food was great, as was the service from the wait staff, Casey (sp?).”

“So happy to have found this market and couldn’t believe it took me this long! They have such a great selection and everything is fresh and great quality. The store is very clean and nicely organized. Will definitely continue to shop here. I can’t wait to try the fresh prepared food that is next door as well!”

“Place was nice and clean. Employee was friendly. What I originally wanted was not available, so I decided on the Frappe. You can tell a lot of ice is used to blend because after a few sips I was left with a cup of frozen ice. I paid $6 for a small. Kind of a waste of money. First and last time going there.”

“I can’t say enough good things about this wonderful new place. Walked in, immediately felt comfortable, knew we made the right choice. The service is fantastic. Servers are attentive and friendly, and the manager (maybe the owner?) came over to check on us *twice* and was very appreciative of our visit. Place was half-filled - good for a rainy Thursday night. Word needs to get out about this wonderful place. I started with a unique appetizer: fresh fried pork rinds (see pic below). They were fabulous and you get a lot for $4. I got the Mushroom Burger (comes with fries) and it was the best mushroom burger I’ve ever had! Fries were terrific. Other menu choices include chicken & waffles, pizzas, burgers, hamburger steak, etc. I will try the pizza next - it looked excellent. They don’t have fried chicken (I mean chicken on the bone with skin) but I suggested it on my way out. I hope they add it to the menu - I’ll be there weekly! Prices are about what you would expect for a place like this but the portions are extremely generous. They also have nice outdoor seating for those cool afternoons or nice evenings when it’s not raining. Plenty of parking and easy access. Five stars! This is a gem tucked away on West Esplanade. Give them a try - you’ll be very glad you did!”

“Let me be super honest here...La Tia has a super authentic, delicious, almost heavenly menu. Also friendly and welcoming service. I ordered the shrimp tempura taco and it was everything I hoped it would be. Tasty, had a little kick to it I will definitely be back!”

“Consistently clean and well lit, but laughably high prices. Their premium is typically ~$1.20 higher than Costco and ~40 cents higher than the Exxon down the road.”

“This is one of my favorite places to get coffee because they have some of the best. I love their Velvet Ice. Most of the time, I get the Vanilla Protein Velvet Ice because it's not only delicious but helps me keep up with my protein. Their baked goods are also delicious. My boyfriend loves their chocolate chunk cookies and so do I. Their brownies are also amazing.”

“Amazing food and service. Not only was the owner and his family incredibly kind & kid friendly, the fold was absolutely amazing. You can tell how much care goes into everything and how authentic it is. Highly reccomend for a date or large group. Try lots of appetizers & share plates. We went as a group of 6 adults and enjoyed everything we tried. The atmosphere is also really great and relaxing with the lamps & cushions. Definitely will be back!”

“I happened to hear the review on the place on the radio and decided to try it. I’m happy that I did. I ordered the Yuca Con Chicharron and chicken tamale. The first dish was larger than I thought, but it was delicious. I haven’t eaten the tamale yet, since I was full from the first dish. But I look forward to doing so later. I got to meet and talk with the father of the business, and it was very pleasant, as he gave me samples of certain foods and informed about why his tortitas are different than others. It was very informative. One of his sons was a chef at Emeril’s, and a New York magazine rated Mawi as a top ten best restaurants in New Orleans. Im looking forward to another visit”

“Super Tastee Apple fritters and lemon drops ever! As Locals we don’t eat A lot of beignets or Dunkin or Krispy Kreme… Tastee is the original and our go to every weekend. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. They are happy to help grab the donut at the very end of the case if that’s the one you want. The apple fritters are our favorite of all the donuts offered. The fritters are always crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. They have apples sprinkled in too with lots of cinnamon… Delicious! If you are an apple fritter fan make sure you get there before noon as sometimes they sell out and don’t make anymore. Second favorite is the buttermilk drops. See photos. They have a cake texture - taste is vanilla with sweet cream. Crunchy and a little sugary on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside.”

“This is a genuine Honduran "Parrillada" (grilled) experience! I had the personal platter, and if you like meat, then this place will satisfy all your cravings! They have sausage, pork, steak, and chicken all in the Honduran "barbacoa" style with many delicious sides such as Honduran "arroz con frijoles" and "tajadas de platano verde". Also, many sauces and other toppings which compliments the sides and meat pairings. The service was top notch, and the manager personally catered to me and my mother as we celebrated Mother's Day. We will definitely return!”

“The whole vibe of the place was vibrant and colorful. They had the ice creams labeled throughout the counter. But the workers seem like they didn’t wanna be there, they weren’t attentive at all. But the elotes and michelagua were amazing. The elotes had the perfect sweet and savory combination. The michelagua was a soury dessert.”

“Tried the pupusas mixtas at the Baleada Festival yesterday and they were absolutely DIVINE. Francisco and the team at the fest were also very kind and patient with my very rusty Spanish. I can't wait to come back for my pupusa fix and to try other dishes at this restaurant!”

“This place is DELICIOUS!! We got the lunch plate special of blacked chicken and pasta and my daughter and I really enjoyed it! She’s 2 and a little picky but she loved it! The seafood egg rolls are the BOMB! Even their sides stand out! Highly recommend!!”
