Wasn't even looking for a dinner place, went for an evening stroll and stumbled upon this gem of a neighborhood restaurant, dollar taco tuesday, I assume a full bar, margarita specials regularly, what more could you want! Dinner for two with generous portions will cost you around $30... more if you opt for alcohol... well worth it, and can't wait to go back for taco Tuesday!!!
Alejandra was amazing! Service was the best, super attentive and recommended mango salsa that slaps ????it’s so good. Tacos are genuinely authentic. Taco Tuesday is lit ???? it’s the best deal uptown for sure. Vibe is chill, clean, and prices are affordable. ????
I live in the neighborhood and wanted to give the place a shot due to its proximity and the fact that I love Mexican Food. So we ordered food for pickup!
Conclusion:
- Food: Very good. It tasted fresh, it was hot, and everything I expected. No frills, not trying to do too much which I appreciated.
- Service: Very poor. While placing the order (over the phone for pickup) we were notified they didn’t have chicken so we ordered the pork chops and steak fajitas. 20 minutes later when I show up and I was told sorry, we don’t have pork chops! What!? So I then had to wait for another dish which took 20 minutes to make. They didn’t expedite and didn’t offer anything to me while waiting. When I asked about the food I was told other tables are also waiting on their food..
Unfortunately the service experience will stop my from coming back.
The place is very nice, good decor and nice environment. Music choice and volume level is perfect to hold a conversation. The server was very polite and friendly. The food was very tasty. We will definitely come back to this restaurant.
The chips and salsa and chili relleno are good.
The"fajita" quesadilla was bad. The meat was NOT fajita meat. It was in no way steak. I asked for clarification and the helpless server said that the meat in the "fajita" tacos, quesadillas, and everything except for the fajitas was indeed different meat. The "fajita" meat from "the right side of the menu" (taqueria section) seemed to be a mix of leftover barbacoa mixed with ground beef. It was neither the meat from the fajitas on the same page nor the carne asada from the dinner section of the menu. I was very disappointed. See my photos for a closeup of the greasy, flavorless, ground meat dish that was my fajita quesadilla.
