This was the tastiest meal of our three-day trip to New Orleans. My number one was the broiled oysters.
Unfortunately my wife had a little intestinal distress after this meal, possibly due to seafood étouffé (filling reheated?) or the oysters (msg?). I think she would still return, just be sure to order a little more carefully, the flavors were so good.
The food was excellent. We tried the oyster sampler and three of the main entrees. Everything was very flavorful. We averaged about $40 per plate, but it was very good. The presentation on the whole fish was incredible and it was cooked perfectly. I would definitely eat here again.
I would have liked to rate Trenasse 3.5 stars, but because of the service and atmosphere, I think this place is better than 3 stars. I visited Trenasse for a group brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Our server was excellent! I ordered the Boudin Hash and Eggs. When it arrived, it was visually appealing. The hash had good flavor, but they were super stingy with the potatoes. It was also just barely warm. My syrup was the hottest thing on my plate. The eggs were bland even with the cheese added. The bacon was delicious. The menu said it was sweet bacon, but it tasted more like a peppery bacon. Either way, I loved it! The biscuit was weird. It had the potential to be good, but was a bit too salty and the bottom half was dry. Overall, it was a decent breakfast and I would probably get it again.
Had a great experience. Our waiter was phenomenal. Ordered their Lamb dish and it was wonderful. My son order the Stinky Stew - OMG I had a taste of the stew best sea food stew I've had.
This review is hard for me to write. Not because it was bad but I just don't want to write out all the things I was impressed with.
So, here's what I will say. We had a party of 7 for a family gathering. Our server was top notch, checking in with us periodically, staying on top of our drinks, delivering food quickly. We ate pretty much one of everything on the menu between all of us and I couldn't be more impressed with the quality of the food. This is by far and away worth it and not at all what I was expecting out of a hotel restaurant. This place easily deserves a spot in my top 10 all time dining experiences.
Special highlights:
1) Stinky's Stew is stinky only in name. So much delicious food in a bowl.
2) Taste of Trenasse was on point. Everyone who got it, 4 people, were in love with it. My dad loved it so much he ordered another of the pies separately.
Fantastic dinner.
