“Great atmosphere with comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. We got the smoked turkey tartine and the brioche with the poached eggs. The brioche was unbelievable! The eggs were cooked perfectly and exerting was so flavorful. The service was friendly and quick considering how many people seemed to walk in at once. Counter service with food brought to your seat.”

“Best spot to eat in zoo. May seem pricey but you get plenty of food. You can easily share with a family member. They also have local Cajun options. My favoritr is the fried alligator”

“I was thankful there was food at the zoo. However it's super chaotic when ordering food. My family ordered a few entrees and split them up. The chicken tenders and fries were good when they were hot. The pizza was not good in my opinion. The bacon cheeseburger was so-so. The prices were reasonable. We could have had better food somewheres else though. They do have a few healthier options such as some salad and a Turkey and swiss wrap. They also had a Turkey or ham sandwich. If we ever go back we will plan on bringing our own sandwiches or eating before or after. I gave 3 stars because despite the chaos my family got to eat when they were hungry.”

Food is always served fresh and hot with exceptional customer service. The assistant manager Val is amazing and always striving to please her customers. “Good sub! The wheat bread has a good wheat taste, is soft and chewy, but holds together till the last bite. The meat serving is generous and tasty. They make a good sandwich.”

“It was a thank you dinner for my cousin and that is where she wanted to go. Service was a little slow at first but Andrew was a great waiter. The shrimp aren't quite what I am used to in New Orleans but they weren't bad. They all were a good size. The wings were delicious. The dry rub I chose had a little bite to it but delicious. The fries were fried not too hard and not too soft. The Black Cherry Bourbon Smash would have been a little sweeter but good drink. Would definitely go back again.”

“Solid and consistent quality and good service. The cocktails are very creative and we always enjoy trying the seasonal margaritas. This place has been around for quite some time and there's a reason for it. Not the absolute best Latin food in the south but very respectable. Clean and affordable. We try to stop by once a week.”

“In 2015, I had completed defending a physics dissertation at UNO. Three of my good friends, who were supporting me throughout PhD journey and are PhD themselves, my sister(masters in mechanical engineering) and I decided to come here to have dinner. At the time, my sister and I lived in the area and we wanted some soul food to celebrate this chapter of my life ending. I was happy to have had completed a milestone and we were all joking and having a blast chatting about the entire experience of graduate school while eating delicious ribs. We were here at Dixie's for about 5-6 hours to be honest. When we were done, we asked for the check and the lovely server notified us that our bill was paid for already. Stunned and speechless, we were wondering why, how, and who was responsible for this. The server responded with a smile saying a table that was sitting close to us, who wished to remain anonymous, heard all of our conversations and decided to treat my milestone achievement with this altruistic act of kindness. We said thank you to the server, but the server wittily responded she had nothing to do with it and we should thank the unknown table. We walked over to the ice cream place next door to get ice cream afterwards. It was a lovely day. I still think about this day every now and then even though it's been five years. I hope that random kind stranger, the server, and this restaurant, are all doing well. I remind myself every day to do the same and keep passing on kindness and love every time I get the chance too. One of these days, I shall go back to NOLA and I will return for some yummy delicious food again at Dixie's Chicken & Ribs.”

“Elle-J’s was recommended to me by a friend. We dined there tonight starting with the house salad which was fresh, delicious and a very sizable portion. Next came the meatballs and spaghetti and lasagna. We requested boxes to take the uneaten portions home, but couldn’t stop nibbling because our taste buds kept saying, “more, more.” The meatballs and spaghetti gravy didn’t bite with sharpness of tomato, but instead had a very subtle smooth, almost sweet, but definitely Italian flavor. The lasagna was covered with cheese in every bite. I forget the meat layered between the pasta, I think they used two different kinds. All I know is I didn’t want to stop. Of course we had to have dessert because no matter how full you are, you gotta top it off with something sweet. Bad habit! With a few good choices presented I chose the cheese cake dribbled with cremebrulee. Stephen, our waiter, was patient, polite and so helpful with the menu. I can’t wait to go back. Did I mention the prices are very reasonable?”

“Really small place inside, not a lot of great drink options, but...Food was great!!! Blackened shrimp tacos were amazing and the burger was pretty good too. We asked for it well done and they did it!! Mozzarella sticks were salty but good, and the fries were crisp and delicious! Highly recommend.”

“Went to District today and tried the fried chicken sandwich. Chicken was fried perfectly, not over cooked. The bun was fresh and it was topped with just enough slaw to drip on your fingers but not need utensils. Best chicken sandwich ever. I love this neighborhood location. Staff is friendly and even though they were busy the food was quick. Keep up the good work guys!”
