Bird Dog Roadhouse

Sadly, Bird Dog is on the decline. It's possibly due to a tight labor market and the difficulty of finding good help. But this last visit was a bit more disappointing. For starters, avoid the salted caramel milk shake. It was just a plop of ice cream into milk with a squirt of caramel sauce. No shake, and it took almost 45 minutes to arrive. The brussel sprouts seem to remain spot on, but the steak frite was so over-priced for a low grade steak and some fries. Overall, just so so now and a bit over priced

Atmosphere refreshing...drinks were well worth the price...the food was absolutely delicious...service was excellent...highly recommended!!!

Make this your #1 stop for a great meal while visiting Cape Elizabeth! Waiter, Chandler, was a 5 Star himself... knowledgable about the menu, beers, etc... Excellent customer service and phenomenal food. The dinner special, a cheese ravioli with vegetable sauce was out of this world. Attentive staff, great food, and nicely decorated interior and exterior building. A+ all around!

My husband and I went for Valentine’s Day...it was rather busy. We were seated almost immediately which was nice considering the amount of people. However our server (Jess) didn’t come over to give us water for over twenty minutes. Once we ordered our drinks...finally...it was another twenty for two beers. No sweat we thought...it’s a busy holiday. Finally, when she came and we were ready to order, she had to run back to the kitchen both times separately. By now we’ve been there for almost an hour, finished our first round of drinks (which she never offered to refill) and haven’t even ordered. Eventually we ordered our appetizers, the Scarlett scallop special and deviled eggs, and our entrees all at once because at this point we were pretty antsy...not to mention thirsty. My husband the steak and I the chicken Marsala. We had been watching the clock for over an hour with our drinks and thought we were making a mistake staying to eat in this busy and hectic atmosphere but our food was out in under ten minutes and it was wonderful! My husband said it was the best steak he’s had in years, the scallops were perfect and my Marsala was exceptional! Everything seemed plated very deliberately and precise, unlike our environment. We
give the chef five stars but service less than one!
