Back River Bistro

Bar none, the best meal we’ve eaten since moving to the midcoast three years ago. The atmosphere was lovely, service (from the owners) was warm and friendly, and the food was truly delicious and so well prepared. There’s nothing else like it in the area. We will absolutely return.

The only minor constructive criticism-the elevator music could be improved.

Two extremes. Delicious salads and carrots side dish. Excellent pork chop with root vegetables. However beef short rib had two bites fat and grizzle with three bites of meat. It rested on polenta that was very very good. Enjoyed the poached pear and the peanut butter desserts. Complementary Rose wine was a nice welcome.
The restaurant has a different look from the Village Bistro days. Not as cozy. No music, just table conversations. This is, indeed, ‘a date night’ place. Not somewhere to bring a big eater.
The food offers complex flavors with a pretty or sophisticated presentation. Recommend ordering an appetizer or salads with the entrees. We will be back. ( But I miss the Bisto’s Hanger Steak!)

In a class by itself in our region. Perfect date night. Lighting and atmosphere are great. Had trouble deciding what to have, it was all so unique and inviting

Bath, Wiscasset, and Boothbay Harbor are quintessential New England/Maine coastal towns and always worth a visit. While they have many very good dining options, there are not many fine dining establishments. This new restaurant in Wiscasset, opened by the proprietors of Ruby's West End in Portland, has remedied this problem.

The food was excellent, the atmosphere was warm, and the service was stellar. I highly recommend it for one of, if not the best, fine dining experiences in the area.

Back River Bistro is top notch! I was fortunate enough to get a reservation for opening night and our experience was amazing! The food was superb and the service stellar!
