Brews & Barrels, Owings Mills

Although I was salty about the demise of my prior favorite Artful Gourmet Bistro, the newly reimagined Brew & Barrel did really well. The aesthetics both inside and outside are great. We arrived in time for happy hour, so drinks were discounted as well as a few appetizers. We got the Yum Yum Shrimp, and although it was 4-5 pieces, the shrimp were big and filling. The cook was actually serving the food too, had to question him on the “over done-ness” of the biscuits on my Bourbon Hot Honey Chicken Sliders, he admitted that what I received was not “normal” (he knew they were basically burnt & hard) and stated that he would take care of it, so the sliders were basically on the house. Didn’t eat the burnt biscuits but the actual chicken pieces were pretty good. My friends tried the Asian wings and were impressed. The atmosphere outdoors after the sun went down was giving very “grown & sexy”. We met the manager Mott who was very nice & accommodating.

The food was really good. I got buffalo wings that had a nice hot sauce along with celery. There was nice music playing and a nice display of instruments on one of the walls. The fries were perfectly salted and delicious. One thing that I would say is that the lamb chops did not have that much flavor but otherwise everything was great.

Always exciting when a new restaurant pops up in the neighborhood, so I was looking forward to my first visit. The decor was fun and bright. Kind of a western feel. The service was friendly and fast. Unfortunately the food was a little underwhelming.

I ordered the yum yum shrimp and southwestern rolls. The shrimp were a great size and similar to bang bang shrimp. However they lack flavor and had too strong of a mayonnaise taste. The southwestern rolls were tasty but the filling was lacking. Overall, they weren't my favorite.

They have great happy hour specials and there was live music on the night I went. This place has potential and I would visit again for the specials and maybe try an entree next time, to really get a feel of the place.

Went for the soft opening and everything was fantastic! Very friendly staff as well as delicious cocktails and food. Our server, Elena, was very attentive while not being overbearing. Everything made for an excellent experience!
