Smokin Joe’s BBQ

Just stopped by for some post Ravens game grub and was greeted like I was family. The atmosphere is amazing and the service is friendly and on point! This mom and pop joint is a must try for anyone looking for authentic southern comfort bbq in the Baltimore area.

Pork BBQ sandwich was good, but the Smokehouse Chicken was 10/10. Got baked beans as a side which were also extremely good, but a little pricey ($7) given the small size.

I am excited to try some of the other items on the menu. The owner mentioned they are getting a smoker soon and will be adding some more items to the menu as well.

This is how BBQ should be: celebrating the unique qualities of each meat and elevating them with wonderful, fresh sauces! The artfully smoked meat is bursting with flavor, even before the first drop of sauce. However, the sauces complement the meats wonderfully and I would highly recommend grabbing a jar of these sauces while you're there, you'll be resisting the urge to douse all your foods in them--traditional has a lovely low, smokey heat to it without being overly sweet and the vinegar based is great as a marinade or dressing and on white meats. I started simple with pit beef and a side of collards and each item blew me away! I can't recall the last time I lifted up a collard greens container to get every last drop after polishing everything off. UPDATE: This place has become my neighborhood fav and I grab a meal from Smokin Joe's whenever I feel like a treat. They have yet to disappoint. Personal favorites are the ribs, smokehouse chicken, and pit beef. Prep can be about 10 minutes so I like to order ahead, but even when I don't it's always a pleasure to chat with the owner and her family. A wonderful addition to the neighborhood.

Have been looking forward to trying Smokin Joe’s as it just recently opened. They didn’t disappoint. Very good. I had the brisket sandwich. Thinly sliced, flavorful brisket with good smoke. Very good sauce choices. Had side of the collard greens, also very good. Can’t wait to visit again. Try it, you’ll like it.
