Finally an authentic Chinese skewer place in the DMV area that uses the special herb seasoning. I’ve been craving skewers ever since I moved to VA and this place exceeded my expectations. The skewers ARE $1.50 more compared to NYC’s street cart skewers/the famous Mr. Q’s BUT look at the environment + the quality of the meat. Like they serve wagyu and abalone + they invested in the skewer grill (?!) LOL

But if you do go (regardless of the google reviews), I highly recommend the combo. You’ll get a large amount of food that includes appetizers, enoki, noodles, skewers and dessert. Also, this sounds silly but their free peanuts are SO good LOL I could eat those for the rest of my life (maybe not — but I did ask for seconds). The shrimp could improve though because it was a bit dry and shrunk into a fry.

In addition, the servers were super friendly and polite as well, our chicken wings got a little burnt and they gave us new ones to apologize for the inconvenience. I’ll definitely be coming back.

We made reservations online via Google. Process was easy.

Restaurant is nice, decorations are appropriate. Place was a bit chilly, but the warm grill was nice.

Food quality was B+. We enjoyed the Tin packet tofu, beef tongue, american wagyu, chicken, fish cakes, pork belly and intestines. Nothing was amazing, but everything was solid.

It's a bit pricy, but it's a fun spot if you are looking for a date night idea. I think it falls into the KBBQ or Hot Pot Realm of dining. I think Iron Age is a better value and quality.

We haven't had really good Chinese skewers since studying abroad there and it was great to have them again, albeit in a much fancier setting. The skewer setup is really neat and the meat is good quality, and pretty affordable given the costs of things around here and that its not just a traditional grill on a street. We loved the lamb, beef, chicken heart, the milky buns (mantou) , and all the scallion noodles, and the two spice blends they offer are really tasty as seasoning once the meat is cooked. One thing I would maybe recommend is having a small cooktime chart for different meats, or maybe color code the skewers.

First of all, we need some high end chinese restaurants in this region. Chinese food and restaurants are not something cheap and low class. I love the two appetizers we ordered. The skewers were amazing. The meats were tender and juicy. The hand pull lan zhou noodles were very authentic. It is the flavor I have been looking for. The quality and presentation are both good. The service is excellent. The owner even came to talk to us. I love the design of the restaurant too. Everything is so new and super clean. Hopefully the restaurant will keep the cleanese and quality. Highly recommend. Will visit again with friends.

This place is amazing. The skewer system is so much fun for large groups, and the tinfoil dishes and hand-pulled noodles are absolutely insane.

We got almost everything off the menu, and the best skewers (in my opinion) were the lamb, the angus beef, and the Japanese sausages. The ordering system is easy to use and the service is fast.

The waiters/attendants were attentive and so nice and very engaged. They really wanted us to have a wonderful time and gave suggestions on their favorite things and what we should try.

The decor and ambience were 10/10. Very hip and fun place. Prices were good as you pay for each individual skewer on a $1-3 order. So if you want an order of chicken skewers for a table of six, you need to order 6x “Chicken Skewer”, etc.

The drinks came out fast too. Everything was great. We will definitely be back again!

We were there during a soft open though. Definitely check this place out if you like fun Asian mixes. Comparable to East Dumpling House in Rockville. There is apparently karaoke on the second floor that sounds super fun. We loved Hulu Skewer House!
