The Angry Jerk

Food was so delicious!! Had the jerk salmon bowl with rice and cinnamon sweet potatoes, mango salsa, jerk mambo sauce. We also had the jerk chicken bowl. Everything was so so good! And don’t sleep on the Mac and cheese OMG! It’s amazing too!! Will definitely be back.

This food was EVERYTHING!!!!!! I got the stewed chicken bowl with noodles and a bunch of other yummy goodies in it. I also ordered the jerk mumbo wings, and the biggest disappointment of all was that there was only ONE flat in the entire container. I was CRUSHED!! I had to give the entire container away after I consumed that one yummy flat of course lol I spent about $34 on the bowl, wings, and a canned coke. The young lady at the register was very helpful and friendly.

I would say if you go in person and dine in you won't regret it. I got the Jerk Chicken with fried rice, angry mayo, angry sweet, cucumber salsa and cilantro. It had a slight kick and very flavorful. (Cost 11.00)

The person behind the counter was okay. I think she is new but one of the workers, maybe the manager/owner asked me how my day was going and had a cool but brief exchange.

All right so this is another spot that one of my followers suggested that I go to. I took a look at the menu, it looked decent, and the name alone had me curious.This spot is called @theangryjerk!! Located at 8223 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, MD, it sits amidst a row of other eateries that you may have never heard of before. I went, mid day on a Sunday…and it was packed.

They have a pretty simple menu which makes it easy to order. Their popular menu items include half jerk chicken (that comes with two sides), their oxtail beef bowl (which you can choose rice and peas, fried rice, or white rice), and their Angry mac & cheese. Their sides include plantains, yucca fries, a pickle slaw, and Roti skin. The main dishes include fried fish, jerk salmon, a whole jerk chicken, stewed snapper, jerk tacos (shrimp, veggie, chicken or oxtail) and those aforementioned protein bowls. They have a bunch of pudding for dessert like cinnamon pudding, banana pudding, Oh and a birthday cake pudding. The sauces!! Mild angry, hot angry, angry sweet, jerk Mumbo, jerk barbecue, Pepper a Sauce, Sweet and Spicy, and oxtail gravy.

So I copped their half jerk chicken ($17.99 pictured with rice and peas & an Angry Mac n cheese at an additional $3.50). The Mac wasn’t in my order, so they replaced it with a full side of Mac ($7.50). I also got their mixed tacos, 1 shrimp taco 1 oxtail taco, and 1 chicken taco ($11.75 pictured), a strawberry shortcake ($5 pictured), and their pineapple ginger drink ($4.50 pictured). Their tacos…all of’em…STAMP!! They had cabbage, pineapple, and sweet jerk sauce on them!! STAMP!! The half jerk meal…STAMP!! Flavorful, spicy, tender…that’s it. The rice I passed on. It wasn’t thoroughly cooked. The Mac n cheese (it was a hint of jerk spice in it) & juice were delicious as well. The sweet jerk sauce, and the mumbo sauce were the only sauces they had available. Both had bite back to them. I really wanted to try their hotter sauce selections.

Customer service was decent (again it was packed), parking was rough on Georgia Ave., the establishment was clean, and online ordering was easy. Go…utilize your patience, and enjoy their good food. That’s it.
