Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

The best icees, and amazing custards. Have not tried shakes yet. Love the custard. It is addictive.

The wild black cherry and Georgia peach gelati was wonderful and the staff was very gracious.

The food is great and yummy. I also like the huge menu. One thing I dislike is the workers are so slow! They had 5 panels and only one worker. It was a Saturday and it was 90 degrees! They knew it was going to be a lot of people but they only wanted one person on one of their biggest sale days. 3/5

The custard here is pretty good and the employees are very friendly. However there are quite a few concerns about the customers....Every time I visit, which is often the crowd that usually comes is a bit indecisive to say the least. This location has very long lines at times and it’s mostly due to the indecisiveness of the customers. They want to try every flavor in the store and get angry when the employees get frustrated. The flavors are very self explanatory, for example: MANGO OBVIOUSLY TASTES LIKE MANGO. The poor girls that work there look so stressed and overworked. They do their best but when a customer comes with 5 of their kids who want to try things it gets hectic. Children don’t know what they want and the parents act so scatter-brained that the transaction goes way slower than it needs to. People complain about the complexity of the menu but it’s really just in my opinion either illiteracy or laziness. The prices are on the menu and there is only 20 ice flavors max. The girls at the window tell you 1 ice flavor in a kids, two in a regular, and three in a large. Things would flow so much smoother at this store if people could make up their minds quicker. The menu is kinda large in size so people can see from the back. That time waiting in line could be taken to CHOOSE YOU’RE FLAVOR. But no people want to act special, wait to get to the counter and then take thirty years to choose a flavor.
Also what people fail to realize in the reviews is that each Rita’s is different, at least flavor wise. People always say, “well at college park they have these flavors why don’t y’all have them?!?? Questions like that are so dumb because obviously this is the Bowie store and not the college park store. If all the Rita’s has the same flavors then it would get boring flavor wise. The boards outside the store show promotions or specials at this location which is nice. What people either fail to read or can’t read due to illiteracy is that there are dates for the layered gelati’s.
Overall I think this store does great despite the challenged people who come here. You will definitely love what you order here.
