Got a cheese pupusa and carne asada and both were amazing. Think it’s the best pupusa I had in dc. Everyone who worked there was super friendly too.
HANDS-DOWN SOME OF *THE* BEST FOOD I’VE EVER HAD IN THE ENTIRE DMV!!! Every aspect of the meal, from the generous portions of juicy, perfectly-cooked meats, to the expertly-seasoned rice (I didn’t even know rice was meant to be this flavorful!) and the fresh salsa (tastes like nothing I’ve ever had before) and pickled garnishes BLEW MY MIND and tasted homemade with LOVE!
Couple that with the kind and friendly employees and service and timely food preparations, and, of course, pupusas with the perfect texture, taste and temperature, made for honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever had.
I had to hold myself back from going two days in a row but I might fold and go back today — that great food and refreshing kindness made a lasting impression on me! 🔥🙌✨
This place is use to be called Pupuseria Maria 2, and it’s still in google maps as the restaurant. But it’s now called Pupuseria Three Friends. They’ve been open for almost a year. I was confused when looking at the old menu. I included pictures of the new menu. This place is affordable food and authentic and great tasting food. Just what I’m looking for!
Excellent pupusas and cozy restaurant. I got the pork and cheese pupusas. the curtido & sauce that come with them were delicious!
Pupusas 8/10. I know a better place in Lanham with a much more generous amount of curtido. (I thought u guys had the best pupusa?!) Now, the birria? The hunks of meat was good but not pulled and not tender and juicy like it should be; kinda bitter and greasy and just a taco (no fried cheese on the outside of the shell) good only after squeezing the lime on top. The consommé? It’s just the burnt grease the meat was cooked in, no dunking your birria allowed with this "jus". No “aù jus” about it at all. Let’s just say I’m glad I didn’t buy my boyfriend his own birria and that only one of us had to be disappointed. He would’ve trashed it. I love On The Border’s birria 😭
