The Lobster Shanty

We visit Salem twice a year July and then again in October. The lobster shanty is always a favorite place to go for us. So glad they expanded???? in past years it was sometimes very long wait, but even then worth it. The food is always great and the price is reasonable.

We was all about the lobster!! We tried the warm and cold lobster roll. Never had either. But we agreed the warm was a lot better. Also am not a fan of mayonnaise but it was very light on the lobster. Lobster mac was also good. Just very skimpy on the lobster. If your allergic to dogs not the place to be. They allow dogs on there patio. Wasnt a big fan of it. As the servers where petting the dogs and serving us with dog hair all of herself. Drinks was amazing! And musicians outside placing music. Atmosphere was great.

Good food, lobster rolls were great. Drinks were very tasty as well. However service was slow, I suspect because they were understaffed. One dedicated waitress and one multitasking maitre'd asked to cover for the entire outer deck, everyone waited at least 30min for food and it wasn't even half full. Servers were polite and attentive despite being rushed. Worth going for sure but beware a long wait if you go on a poorly scheduled day.

This place was alright. Honestly my food was good (Grilled Chicken Sandwich with black bean and corn - I really liked it and the poutine tasted great) but everyone else had a bad experience with the food. Service was good and everyone was really nice. The chili is super spicy and it doesn’t mention it on the menu. The pulled pork sandwich was a little dry, and the coleslaw that comes with it is also spicy.

Lobster roll was really good! Very fresh. And despite what it says on the back of all their shirts... The bartender (Michael) was really cool and personable. I've lived in Salem for 3 years and this was my 1st time here! I feel like I've been missing out!
