Fun atmosphere! Fantastic cocktail menu, spicy savory gumbo, alligator sandwich, and fried chicken. Garlicky mac n cheese. Generous portions.
Simply phenomenal. My partner and I had red beans & rice, blackened chicken, bread pudding, and a couple of cocktails. Everything was absolutely delicious, generously spiced, and beautifully presented. This kind of cuisine is tragically underrepresented outside of Louisiana and especially in New England. To say it is a welcome and refreshing addition to the Northampton restaurant scene would be an understatement.
If I had to nitpick, there were two tiny things keeping the experience from being perfect. One, the cold butter was too solid to spread and crumbled the cornbread. Two, the use of passionfruit flavored rum in the hurricane is a bit overkill; the drink takes on a bit of a canned passionfruit nectar quality. Just use a nice, assertive Caribbean white rum and let its flavor shine through.
Really, though, it's not reasonable to expect absolute perfection from a restaurant in its second week of operation. The experience was overall excellent, and I am looking forward to many return trips.
Was very excited to see a Cajun restaurant opening up in Northampton. I've been to New Orleans twice and love the food. This is a great taste of New Orleans close to home with all the dishes you would expect (plus po boys, which a sit down restaurant often wouldn't have). I loved the beer selection and staff was exceptionally friendly. I'll be back very, very soon because it was so hard to choose between the entrees.
Emma, my bartender, was great. She made me aware right away that they didn't have their liquor license yet (coming within the next week) she had quite the extensive Mocktail list and the Pink Margarita was a pleasant surprise. I had the Crawfish Boullettes and they had just the right amount of Creole kick. If I happen to be back in Northampton ever, I'll certainly go back. The whole staff was very friendly and welcoming. Check it out.
Stopped in for takeout from this recently opened restaurant in Northampton. Was not disappointed. Food is delicious, servings are generous and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Tried the gumbo and jambalaya and recommend both. Will definitely be back.
