“I have tried this place once and happily will return. I will return because it is a Mexican American cuisine restaurant that West Newton's village center has sorely needed. When a famous burrito store opened a town away ten years ago, I began to understand just what the city of Newton was missing. La Tate brings that here. I will return because the service was wonderful, and the city is missing a place that has that "5 O'Clock Somewhere" atmosphere down the street from Chestnut Street. I know where it is because they have a colorful art installation outside of the restaurant, I know that the owners of the building put a lot of work into the food and enjoyed every moment of it.”

“High-end restaurant with a very human staff. Food is ridiculously good, atmosphere is wonderful, it is not like other super high-end restaurants where the wait-staff smother you. It is relaxing just sitting in the restaurant. The wait for the food was very reasonable. This restaurant has the culinary expertise of some restaurants in France, and I have been to 100s of restaurants in France. Overview: Atmosphere: Amazing, relaxing, formal, but not to formal. Staff: Best way to describe them is like finding that really chill and reliable old friend you haven't seen in a while. They are helpful, but not smothering, and you would be surprised how normal conversations with them are. Food: Having been born in France and visiting family there 2 times a year, I can safely say that the food here is just as good, if not better than many restaurants actually in France. Verdict: #1 place on my list for going whenever I have an excuse to eat out.”
