Happy hour dollar bar appetizers and custom crafted drinks upon request are a must. The staff crafted a floral cucumber lime (and maybe something else) drink that was surprisingly refreshing.

Great restaurant! The service was so excellent and the bartender came over to answer some questions we had about a cocktail. The food was phenomenal, the hot chicken was devoured so quickly.

The fried chicken is very nice. Appetizers were nice enough. Desserts (pecan pie and hibiscus berry pie) were disappointing.

Loved the dining room, and service was good.

The dinner menu was a little thin. No black-eyed peas, for example.

I tried this restaurant randomly when I was walking through South End last weekend and I’m so glad I did. Amazing ambiance and atmosphere, delicious southern comfort food. Friendly servers. Southern Proper is a home run and exactly what the South End needed. It’s a must try, one of my favorite new spots for brunch. Also it has the best fried chicken in town in my opinion ;). Do yourself a favor and try this place soon. So yummy!!

Southern Proper is always an awesome experience. Very attentive staff, great food, and a fun/cozy dining experience. They have a big menu that's always updated with new and delicious options to try. Recently tried their apple pie dessert and it was probably the best apple pie I've ever tasted, super fresh and flavorful. Extremely great location as well, it has a nice outdoor patio that is perfect when it's warmer out! Overall they have tons of great options for brunch, lunch, and dinner, it's very diversified which I like.
