Friendly service. Great food. There’s a homey vibe about the place - probably because of the architecture. They also have great specials, but those might just happen during the off-season.
A special destination for great food! The Mac & cheese is the best. The biscuits and butter melt in your mouth a must as one of your sides with dinner! The service is wonderful, a perfect setting on the river. If you are in town make the time to stop by. They do not take reservations, so expect a wait during the summer.
I’ve lived in New Orleans and can honestly say this is the best southern food north of the Mason Dixon! Hubby loves the fried chicken but I think the shrimp and grits are absolutely delectable as well as the surprising spice of the crab callas appetizer and the atmosphere of low country on the river make the setting complete. Their frozen cocktails are something to look forward to once the Michigan weather gets warm as well as sitting with family and friends at picnic tables on the screened porch. Excellent customer service in a southern river side setting with excellent southern eats and smoked meats!
Good southern style cooking. Shrimp and grits using lobster broth was great. My friend had lamb stew that was killer. Looks like the fried chicken is a main thing since it is the Friday special and several families were there. Nice view of the water too.
Best southern fried chicken I've ever eaten. Not greasy, moist, and seasoned to the bone. And the sides are just as good. The biscuits were obviously made by angels. And if I found out they were made by the devil, I'd still enjoy every last crumb.
